The Rare Stone Adorning the Dial of the Third Addition to the SB04-E Collection
At the beginning of this year, independent watchmaker Armand Billard unveiled the SB04-E collection, featuring two distinctive models: the Ruby Platinum and the Tantalum Hand-Engraved, marking Sartory-Billard's first venture into serial production. The brand now returns with a new edition showcasing a dial crafted from one of the rarest stones on earth, Chrysocolla.
This stone reveals a mesmerizing tapestry of turquoise and emerald hues, swirling with natural veining reminiscent of currents in crystalline waters. While maintaining the design language of this collection, the new Sartory-Billard SB04-E Chrysocolla Platinum harmoniously blends high artistic elements and unique design with the natural beauty of this stone.
The case is made from 316L stainless steel, measuring 39.5mm in diameter, 10.3mm in thickness, and 46mm lug-to-lug. It consists of three parts: a large polished bezel features a concave design that reflects light and its surroundings, creating an optical effect that visually reduces the watch’s thickness. A satin-finished case middle, and a case back adorned with intricate decorations. The case offers water resistance up to 100 meters. As a unique touch, a luminous coating has been applied to the crown as well as to components of the dial.
The center dial of this edition is made of Chrysocolla, a striking copper-based mineral known for its vivid blue-green hues, often resembling turquoise. It forms in the oxidation zones of copper deposits. Surrounding the dial is a sapphire disk featuring an inner ring made of metal, with a chamfered edge polished, while the outer surfaces of the ring are circularly brushed.
The disk is adorned with even-numbered indices crafted from metal, with all visible surfaces polished with a diamond-cut finish. The Super-LumiNova BGW9 pad-printed minute track and odd-numbered indices showcase the brand’s signature Y-shaped design, inspired by the Eiffel Tower, a nod to the founder’s Parisian roots.
Both the hour and minute hands are linear brushed and filled with BGW9 Super-LumiNova, while the seconds hand includes a small polished tip, also diamond-cut for a brilliant finish.
As with previous editions, the watch is powered by the automatic G101 caliber from Swiss manufacturer La Joux-Perret. The movement offers a power reserve of 68 hours and operates at a frequency of 4 Hz. Both the tungsten rotor and the bridges are decorated with Côtes de Genève patterns, adding an aesthetic touch to the movement.
The Chrysocolla Platinum edition is limited to just 50 pieces and is available with a black or white Delugs CTS rubber strap featuring a deployant clasp. Priced at EUR 4,500, it is approximately equivalent to 17,950 AED.
