Understanding Jacob & Co. and Hublot

In the world of haute horlogerie, few names spark as much conversation and controversy as Jacob & Co. and Hublot. Among bloggers, YouTubers, and Instagram commentators, these brands are often targeted with criticism. The reality, however, is that much of this criticism stems from a lack of understanding about what these brands represent and the unique contributions they bring to the industry.

Too often, critics of Jacob & Co. and Hublot are simply echoing popular opinions without a nuanced understanding of these brands’ DNA. When pressed to substantiate their opinions, many struggle to provide meaningful insights or comparisons.

Introducing The New Bremont Terra Nova Collection with 3 Bronze Models

Durable and elegant pieces inspired by early 20th-century military pocket watches

In 2024, Bremont gave its "Terra Nova" collection a fresh update, unveiling stainless steel timepieces inspired by early 20th-century military pocket watches. For this year, the collection expands to include three new models made from a high-strength Cupro-Aluminium bronze alloy. This innovative material combines exceptional resilience with a controlled patina process, resulting in a unique golden tone accented by a warm reddish hue.

Terra Nova 40.5mm Date Bronze

Let's start with the simplest model in the collection, the Terra Nova 40.5mm Date Bronze. This watch combines rugged versatility with a 40.5mm two-piece Cupro-Aluminium bronze case that’s 11.11mm thick, has a push-in crown, and a striking dark green gradient dial. The stainless steel case back is coated in a bronze PVD finish, and with 100m of water resistance, it’s ready for everyday wear. To make reading the time effortless, it’s fitted with full-block Super-LumiNova numerals and rose gold-plated hands, which really pop in low light. The date sits at 3 o’clock.

The watch is powered by the Calibre BE-36AE, a modified automatic Sellita SW200-1 movement that runs at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offers 38 hours of power reserve. You can choose from a black and green NATO-style strap, a khaki green nubuck strap, or a full-bronze articulated bracelet. Prices are £3,250 / AED 14,900 for the first two options, or £3,600 / AED 16,500 for the full-bronze bracelet.

Its 40.5mm Cupro-Aluminium bronze case is 11.9mm thick and features a bi-directional engraved compass bezel. The warm caramel gradient dial evokes vast desert landscapes, while rose gold-plated hands and vintage Super-LumiNova ensure clarity in any lighting condition.
