Introducing The New Mido Multifort TV Big Date

A new sporty release with a mix of black, blue, and orange

The Multifort collection is one of Mido’s oldest and most enduring lines, debuting in the 1930s with the promise of water resistance, anti-magnetism, and shock protection. Over the decades, it has evolved in both form and function, yet it remains a canvas for Mido’s creative experiments. The TV-shaped variant, first introduced in 1973, reflects the design language of its era and was reintroduced in 2023 with a fresh, contemporary edge. This year, the brand pairs the signature squared profile with a daring mix of black, blue, and orange, giving the watch a distinctly sporty and assertive character.

The watch features a black PVD-treated stainless steel case measuring 40mm in width and 39.6mm in height, with a thickness of 11.5mm. Brushed and polished surfaces accentuate its bold geometry, while the bezel carries a sandblasted dot at 12 o’clock. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides follows the case’s contours, and a screw-down crown with protective shoulders ensures practicality. Turning the watch over reveals a transparent caseback, offering a clear view of the movement. Water resistance is rated at 100 meters.

The gradient dial transitions from an electric blue at the center to deep black at the edges, enhanced by pronounced horizontal brushing. Orange accents play a starring role, appearing on the hands, indices, and minute track along the flange. The faceted, diamond-cut hands and indexes are coated with orange Super-LumiNova, ensuring strong legibility in any light. At 12 o’clock sits the big date display, with black discs and orange numerals.

Inside beats the Mido Caliber 80, based on the ETA C07.651. This automatic movement runs at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz) and delivers an impressive 80-hour power reserve. A Nivachron balance spring further enhances resistance to magnetic fields and shocks.

The watch is fitted with a dark blue textile strap accented by contrasting orange stitching, its hue slightly different from the dial’s blue. The strap is lined with brown leather and secured by a black PVD-coated stainless steel pin buckle engraved with the Mido logo. This model is part of Mido’s permanent collection and is priced at CHF 1,170, approximately AED 5,350.
