Introducing Cuervo y Sobrinos Unveils the Espléndidos Heritage

A new collection inspired by the rectangular cases of the 1930s

Cuervo y Sobrinos was founded in Havana in 1882 and became a symbol of sophistication during Cuba’s golden age, serving a discerning clientele who valued both style and craftsmanship. Today, although the company operates from Switzerland, its timepieces still embody the warm spirit, cultural richness, and refined charm of old Havana.

The latest chapter in this legacy is the Espléndidos Heritage, a new collection that pays homage to the bold rectangular cases of the 1930s. Its name is inspired by the celebrated Cohiba Espléndido cigar, a fitting tribute to the Havana lifestyle that shaped the brand’s identity. The case measures 35 mm in width, 47 mm in length, and 10 mm in thickness, crafted entirely from polished stainless steel. Soft curves and flared lugs give the watch a confident presence on the wrist, while a domed sapphire crystal safeguards the dial.

Two dial variations bring distinct personalities to the Espléndidos Heritage. The regular-production model features a black lacquered finish, while the cream dial version, accented with rose gold elements, is limited to 82 numbered pieces in reference to the brand’s founding year. Both feature a richly textured Clou de Paris pattern at the center, framed by a decorative ring encircling the small seconds subdial and date window at 6 o’clock. Dauphine-style hands and applied hour markers ensure excellent legibility.

The sapphire caseback reveals the La Joux-Perret G120 movement, a Swiss automatic calibre operating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz) with an impressive 68-hour power reserve. The movement is enhanced with a gold-toned rotor engraved with the Cuervo y Sobrinos emblem. Completing the watch is a hand-stitched Louisiana alligator leather strap, matte black for the dark dial, glossy brown for the cream version, secured by a stainless-steel clasp engraved with the brand’s initials. Quick-release spring bars allow for easy strap changes.

Prices are set at CHF 3,300 (approximately AED 15,000) for the black dial and CHF 3,500 (approximately AED 15,900) for the cream dial.
