Intricate Guilloché Detailing Showcases German Craftsmanship in Green and Orange
Moritz Grossmann introduces two vibrant new editions of its GMT watch, first launched in 2019, now featuring exquisite hand-guilloché dials in fresh summer tones.
The dials of the new GMT Guilloché models are offered in a matte green, inspired by open meadows and secluded coves, and a radiant orange reminiscent of a summer sunset, both celebrating traditional German craftsmanship and fine watchmaking techniques.
Housed in a polished stainless steel case measuring 41mm in diameter and 11.85mm in height, the watch includes a crown at 3 o’clock for time setting and winding the movement. The second time zone can be conveniently adjusted via a secondary crown positioned at 10 o’clock.
A practical pusher at 4 o’clock enables precise time setting. When the crown is pulled out, it automatically springs back to its original position, activating a stop-seconds mechanism for accuracy. Once the time is set, the pusher restarts the movement and resets the crown to winding mode. This clever safety system prevents dust ingress, minimizes wear on the keyless works, and avoids accidental hand movement.
The most striking feature of the watch is its finely guillochéd dial. This artisanal craft involves engraving geometric patterns using a guilloché machine, with the finesse and precision of the guillocheur being key.
The artisan must expertly guide the burin and apply the perfect amount of pressure to achieve the intricate design. Once engraved, the dial is coated using a special finish that enhances its depth and creates dynamic light reflections from every angle.
The central dial displays the local time, while the second time zone is indicated on a peripheral white flange featuring a 24-hour scale, blue Arabic numerals, and a rotating arrow-shaped pointer.
Handcrafted lance-shaped hands complete the aesthetic harmony. The orange dial is paired with polished steel hands, while the green dial is accented by heat-blued steel hands—each combination offering a refined contrast.
Powering the watch is the in-house calibre 100.8, a manual-winding movement that showcases hallmark Moritz Grossmann details and refined finishing. The 2/3 plate, crafted from untreated German silver, features traditional Glashütte ribbing and hand-engraved inscriptions. The GMT mechanism is integrated on the dial side, while the balance wheel beats at 18,000 vibrations per hour, offering a power reserve of 42 hours.
Both editions of the Moritz Grossmann GMT are presented on black alligator leather straps with stainless steel prong buckles and are limited to just eight pieces each. They are priced at €62,800, equivalent to AED 271,800.
