Frederique Constant's Latest Addition to the Highlife Chronograph Collection

The Highlife collection, Frederique Constant’s most celebrated lines, debuted in 1999 as an affordable luxury sports watch. Relaunched in 2020, the collection gained fresh momentum, and by 2022, the brand introduced the Highlife Chronograph to its portfolio.

This year, Frederique Constant commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Highlife collection with a stunning addition to the 41mm Chronograph Automatic lineup. The latest release is a limited edition of 1,888 pieces, featuring a stainless steel case, an off white opaline dial, and striking green subdials. This model joins its predecessors versions with blue and black subdials housed in steel cases, and a more recent iteration with a blue dial and a gold-plated case.

Introducing Jaeger-LeCoultre has added two timepieces to its Master Ultra Thin Collection

Ingenuity and craftsmanship behind the hand-guilloché dial, vibrant blue Grand Feu enamel

Jaeger-LeCoultre's Master Thin collection is a sophisticated, understated, ultra-thin dress watches, encompassing models from simple time-and-date to intricate designs featuring moon phases, tourbillons, and perpetual calendars. Presented with subtle beige or sunray-decorated dials, JLC has introduced two new timepieces. The first, a new Master Ultra Thin Power Reserve, and the second, showcasing a hand-guilloché dial from JLC’s Métiers Rares Atelier, graces the pink gold Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel model in a captivating new shade of blue.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Power Reserve

While the size of the 18k pink gold case remains the same as the preceding version of the Master Ultra-Thin Power Reserve retaining the elegant 39mm diameter and 8.95mm thickness its design has been subtly modernized, with revised proportions and slimmer, more elongated lugs that make it even more comfortable on the wrist.

The sunray-finished dial features Dauphine hands that complement the hour markers denoted by elongated, tapering triangles, mirroring the applied 'JL' logo. The date is located at 2 o'clock, while the power reserve indicator is at 10 o'clock. Looking at 6 o'clock, you will notice the small second subdial, serving as a visual focal point for the primary complication. These elements create aesthetic harmony while contrasting dramatically with the gradient midnight blue of the sunray dial. The subtle matte texture of the sub-dials adds visual depth and richness.

It's what's inside that has been revamped more dramatically. The last iteration of the Caliber 938 movement had 43 hours of power. With only minor changes, a redesigned mainspring barrel, and some key components made of silicon, JLC has reduced friction in the movement and now gets 70 hours out of the caliber.

Adding a final flourish, the new Master Ultra Thin Power Reserve is presented on a navy-blue alligator strap.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Tourbillion Enamel

The fully polished pink gold 40mm case, with a thickness of 12.13mm, takes its design cues from the Master Ultra-Thin collection.

The dial's hand-guilloché pattern, consisting of 180 sun rays meticulously aligned by a skilled master guillocheur using a rose engine lathe, is a testament to precision. Another challenge involves creating the hand-snailed or azurage interior of the date indicator at noon. After the guilloché work, the master enameller adds layers of Grand Feu enamel in a kiln at 800ºC, introducing a new royal blue color.

The gold Dauphine hands and polished elongated indices, characteristic of the Master Thin family, enhance the dial's elegance. At 6 o’clock, a large aperture with a pink gold-framed seconds track showcases the tourbillon, rotating every 60 seconds, secured by a mirror-polished pink gold bridge. The blue triple hand precisely tracks the seconds.

The reverse side reveals JLC's latest generation automatic calibre 978, introduced in 2009 and updated in 2019. The tourbillon is encased in a titanium cage weighing less than half a gram. The openworked rotor, polished and frosted, exposes the Geneva stripes on the bridges and other intricacies of the 271-component movement. The power reserve lasts for 45 hours.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel comes on a blue alligator strap with a pink gold folding clasp.
