Marking its 25th anniversary with a new mid-size addition with a meteorite dial
Formex has been operating under the leadership of Raphael Granito since 2016, taking a fresh approach by working closely with its sister companies, Dexel and Cadranor, to drive innovation in clasp technology and dial manufacturing. The brand is also known for its patented Case Suspension System, which integrates four springs between the upper and lower case, allowing the watch to sit exceptionally comfortably on the wrist, a feature we experienced firsthand with the Space Gold. Today, the brand is celebrating its 25th anniversary by introducing a new 41mm size to its flagship Essence collection with the release of the Space Ghost.
The Essence Space Ghost debuts in a 41mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 10.6mm and a Grade 2 titanium inner container. This new size sits perfectly between the existing 39mm and 43mm like the Space Glacier models. The watch is equipped with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating, while the sapphire caseback offers a clear view of the movement. Water resistance is rated at 100 meters.
At the heart of this edition is a dial cut from a 4.5-billion-year-old fragment of the Muonionalusta meteorite. It undergoes a proprietary stabilization process and is finished with galvanic rhodium plating, resulting in a striking silvery surface that highlights the meteorite’s unique Widmanstätten pattern. The dial also features a date window at 6 o'clock, applied blued hands and indices, all filled with Super-LumiNova BGW9 for optimal legibility in low light.
Powering the watch is the COSC-certified Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement. It beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz), provides a 41-hour power reserve, and is beautifully decorated with a skeletonized rotor and blued screws, visible through the transparent caseback.

The Space Ghost is available on a stainless steel bracelet with a newly patented micro-adjustable butterfly clasp. This upgraded system allows for fine adjustments in three positions (0mm, 3mm, and 6mm) without opening the clasp. Alternatively, the watch can be paired with leather, rubber, or nylon straps, each fitted with a carbon fiber deployant clasp offering 7mm of gradual adjustment. All strap options include a quick-release system.
This model is limited to 150 pieces annually. The price is set at CHF 1,880 / AED 9,490 for versions on leather, nylon, or rubber straps, and CHF 1,990 / AED 9,990 for the stainless steel bracelet.
Waqt is the official exclusive retailer for Formex in the UAE, offering enthusiasts the opportunity to experience these exceptional timepieces firsthand. You can explore and order Formex watches from our E-shop.
