Two watches Inspired by the colors of the night sky, and the captivating Milky Way
Ulysse Nardin has a rich heritage dating back to 1846, and is known for its maritime-inspired timepieces. This year, the brand introduces the "Marine Tourbillon Moonphase" and The "Diver Stary Night", in a captivating blue aventurine dial.
In 2017, the brand released the Marine Torpilleur collection which includes various models with different features and designs, such as limited editions, and tourbillons. These watches are often characterized by their elegant and maritime-inspired design, making them suitable for both formal and casual occasions. While the moon phase complication have made appearances in Ulysse Nardin’s watches, they didn't grace this collection, Until three years ago, when the brand added a moonphase indicator, expanding the limits of its collection. This year, Ulysse Nardin releases a limited edition of the Marine Torpilleur Moonphase, with a unique Aventurine dial, alongside the Diver Starry Night that was introduced in 2009 as a Lady Divers watch with a 40mm case. Now, the timepiece shares the aventurine dial, with a mother-of-pearl lower disk and a 39mm case.
The Marine Torpilleur Moonphase comes in a brushed and polished stainless steel case that measures 42mm in diameter and 11.13mm in thickness. It features a small plate on the side of the case that showcases the sequential numbers of the variant. The case is crowned by a sapphire crystal that surrounds the fluted bezel, and it also includes the brand's logo on the crown.
The dial takes the spotlight as it is adorned with blue aventurine crafted from blocks of aventurine that typically has a blue or blue-green color, often with metallic sparkles that give it a unique and sparkling appearance, resembling the beautiful night sky. The dial remains faithful to its predecessors, featuring rhodium-plated hands surrounded by large Roman numerals. In addition, it has a small seconds subdial and a moon phase indicator at 6 o'clock.
The watch is powered by the in-house automatic caliber UN-119, operating at 28,000 vph (4Hz), and provides 60 hours of power reserve. The movement is chronometer certified by COSC and features a silicon hairspring. The Marine Torpilleur Moonphase is limited to 300 pieces and comes with a blue alligator strap secured by a folding clasp, with a price of USD 13,600, which is equivalent to AED 50,000.
The Diver Starry Night watch is known for its captivating design, including models with 18k rose gold cases, stainless steel cases, and more. The watch is available in various styles for both men and women catering different preferences. This year, Ulysse Nardin showcases the Diver Starry Night in a 39mm brushed and polished stainless steel case that features 40 sets of diamonds on the bezel. Despite its artistic design, the watch retains the functionality of a diver's timepiece, including water resistance up to 300m.

Just like the previously mentioned watch, the dial deserves attention as it also features an aventurine disk that covers the white mother-of-pearl bottom disk, giving it the appearance of our Milky Way. What makes this watch special are the diamond indices that add a luxurious touch to the diver's watch. It also boasts hands filled with super-luminova and a small date indicator at 6 o'clock.
Powering the watch is the UN-816, an automatic movement based on the Sellita SW300. It operates at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offers a 42-hour power reserve. The Diver Starry Night is available with either a blue rubber strap or a white alligator leather strap, both secured with a stainless steel buckle. It is priced at USD 14,700, which is equivalent to AED 54,000.
