Celebrating ART IN TIME's fifth anniversary with a titanium case for the first time
In 2015, the Chopard Group revived the Ferdinand Berthoud brand, and since then it has garnered increasing attention for its unique blend of technical mastery and creative aesthetic. Among its most iconic creations is the GPHG-winning Chronomètre FB 3SPC, a timepiece inspired by the rare No. 26 decimal watch, crafted by Louis Berthoud in 1793. Powered by the Calibre FB-SPC, this model features a cylindrical balance-spring, a rare watchmaking speciality. Now, in celebration of ART IN TIME's fifth anniversary, Ferdinand Berthoud is unveiling the limited Edition Chronomètre FB 3SPC.4, featuring a sandblasted titanium case for the first time.
ART IN TIME is built on a distinctive concept, uniting niche brands based on shared values rather than similar types, ranges, or styles. What binds these brands together is their mutual commitment to independence, creativity, and exclusivity. Founded in Monaco in 2019 by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-President of Chopard and President of Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud, ART IN TIME highlights these principles, bringing together exceptional houses under one vision.
As for the timepiece, it measures 42.30mm in diameter and 9.43mm in thickness, featuring a glareproofed sapphire crystal on both the front and caseback. A sapphire crystal porthole at 9 o’clock offers a view of the three main escapement components: the balance wheel, pallet lever, and escape wheel.
The semi-openworked dial showcases sandblasted nickel silver plate with a white rhodium treatment, complemented by a semi-matte white varnished peripheral inner bezel ring for the hours and minutes, crafted from sandblasted brass with blue varnished numerals and a minute track. The hands are made of 18-carat gold and coated with a blue CVD treatment. You can spot an arrow-shaped power reserve hand at 2 o'clock, and a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock.
The watch is powered by the in-house Calibre FB-SPC, a hand-wound mechanical movement featuring a cylindrical balance-spring. It operates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz) and offers a power reserve of 72 hours. The movement is chronometer-certified by the COSC, and comprises 230 components. The watch comes with three interchangeable straps, a blue alligator leather strap, a gray alligator leather strap, and a blue rubber strap. It is secured with a sandblasted titanium pin buckle featuring a blue varnished logo. The watch is limited to 5 pieces and is priced at CHF 135,000, which is equivalent to AED 585,850.
