A New Open Caseback Sets It Apart from Its Predecessors
As one of the most prestigious watchmaking brands, Glashütte Original is not just about introducing new models, but also about constantly reimagining and refining its previous releases. By integrating innovative technologies into its existing designs. A prime example of this is the "SeaQ" watch, which was originally launched as an advanced diver watch with a closed caseback, concealing its mechanical movement. This decision added an element of mystery and exclusivity, focusing on performance rather than showcasing the movement.
Now, the brand is reintroducing the “SeaQ” watch In all its previously issued colors, with a sapphire caseback, allowing wearers to admire the intricate movement inside. However, this reissue is not driven by functional necessity, but rather for aesthetic purposes, emphasizing the beauty and complexity of the movement. This move reflects Glashütte Original's commitment to continuous innovation, offering a timepiece that caters to the different tastes of its clientele, with a focus on fine craftsmanship and visual elegance.
The watch features a 39.5mm brushed and polished steel or red gold case with a sapphire crystal on the dial and case back,(Available with a closed case back option like previous versions), providing a sleek and durable design. It boasts a water resistance of up to 200 meters, making it suitable for diving and water sports. The case is 12.15mm in height and includes a screwed crown for added security. The bezel is equipped with a one-directional rotation system, highlighted by a ceramic inlay and a Super-LumiNova coating on the main indicator for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions.
The dial features a Blue or green black galvanized finish with a sunray decoration, meticulously crafted by the manufacture for a refined, dynamic appearance. Applied Arabic numerals and indexes, all enhanced with Super-LumiNova coating, ensure excellent contrast and legibility in any lighting. The hands are also generously inlaid with the same luminous material. A white date display at 3 o'clock contrasts beautifully against the blue background, while a white printed minute track runs along the edges of the dial, further enhancing ease of reading.
The watches are powered by the in-house Glashütte Original Calibre 39-11 automatic movement, offering a 40-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz). This finely crafted movement features the signature Glashütte three-quarter plate with a distinctive cotes de geneve stripe finish, and the meticulously bevelled edges and polished steel parts reflect the brand's commitment to craftsmanship. The movement is further distinguished by its skeletonised rotor, adorned with the iconic double-G symbol, showcasing the watch's exceptional architecture and attention to detail.
The watch comes with a steel bracelet or rubber or Synthetic strap. The watch will be available with the new case back option starting in December 2024. Beginning in the new year, customers who own these versions will have the option to exchange the closed case back for a sapphire crystal case back, for an additional fee.
The prices of the watches vary depending on the materials whether red gold or steel, and the type of strap or bracelet, ranging from EUR 11,100 to EUR 25,100 approximately equivalent to AED 44,400 to AED 100,400.
