A new trio with a grand feu enamel dial, in a collaboration with illustrator Guy Allen
De Rijke & Co. is a Dutch indie brand founded by Laurens De Rijke, a designer and engineer with a passion for classic vehicles, adventure, and watches. In 2013, Laurens embarked on a journey along the ancient Silk Road on his fifty-year-old Vespa scooter, covering a distance of 11,000 kilometers. During this trip, he purchased his first mechanical watch in Georgia, which he used to keep track of time while riding. The limitations of this watch inspired Laurens to develop a mechanical watch specifically for drivers. He dedicated his graduation project to this endeavor and connected with renowned Dutch designer Bruno Ninaber van Eyben. It was Bruno and his studio that taught Laurens the craft of watch design and making.
Now, the brand is launching the Amalfi Enamel Series, three watches in collaboration with the famous illustrator Guy Allen, who was commissioned by De Rijk in 2018 to draw some illustrations to promote the Amalfi 1 series, the brand’s core collection. The new releases come in the brand’s rotatable case. This collaboration has led to the introduction of three new watches inspired by the Italian coast, with dials coated with the grand feu enamel technique.

The trio comes in a two-part steel case measuring 38.2mm in diameter and 11mm in thickness, and maintains its ability to rotate 90 degrees, enhancing readability while driving. In comparison to the inaugural models, the new design features a sapphire crystal, but maintains the same dimensions.

Each watch has its own theme, a vintage car in a red hue, a seaplane in blue, and a speedboat in light green. These dials are crafted using the traditional champlevé grand feu enamel technique on solid 925 silver, and each features skeletonized hands. Each theme is also reflected on the caseback with beautiful engravings.

The watches are powered by Sellita SW300 caliber, an automatic movement that operates at 28,800 vph (4Hz), and offers 42 hours of power reserve. Each watch comes with a leather strap in different strap colors, and a steel pin buckle. Each variant is limited to 25 pieces and priced at EUR 3,395, equivalent to AED 13,500.
