Bringing Back the Sapphire Dial Design with a Blue Hue and a Slimmer Case
Christopher Ward reintroduces sapphire dials to its collection with the new C60 Sapphire Edge, the latest edition of the C60 series featuring a sapphire dial, a design first unveiled in 2020. As part of the Trident collection, 2% of all sales from this model will be donated directly to the Blue Marine Foundation, reinforcing the brand's commitment to marine conservation.
This new Christopher Ward release features a luminous rubber strap, with the luminescence color matching the hands, indices on the dial, and bezel markers, enhancing both comfort and visual appeal.
The watch case measures 42mm in diameter and is made of 316L stainless steel, with a pressure resistance of up to 300 meters and a weight of 70.87 grams. The case is only 10.7mm thick and is protected by sapphire crystal on both sides. Instead of the stainless steel bezel found in the previous Sapphire edition of the C60, this version features a sapphire bezel with multiple layers of Super-LumiNova on the markers. The bezel is unidirectional and designed with 120 clicks.

The blue sapphire dial offers a unique view of the movement, fully revealing the date wheel, while the date window at 6 o’clock features a dark blue background. The indices and hands are coated with white Super-LumiNova, while the blue seconds hand has a luminous arrowhead tip to enhance readability in low-light conditions.

The new release embodies innovation and sustainability, bringing improvements over previous editions. Due to the extreme fragility of sapphire, manufacturing a dial just 0.6mm thick requires exceptional precision, as even the slightest mistake can result in a quality control failure. Once installed in the watch, the dial fully reveals the date wheel, a rare feature in most timepieces.
The watch is powered by the Sellita SW300-1 caliber, which is 1mm thinner than the SW200-1 movement used in previous C60 models. This design allows the movement to fit within Christopher Ward’s signature "Light Catcher" case, making the watch 2.25mm thinner than earlier versions. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and offers a power reserve of 56 hours, with an accuracy margin of ±20 seconds per day.
The new edition is available with a luminous rubber strap or a stainless steel 316L bracelet, which features a clasp engraved with Christopher Ward’s twin flag logo.
In terms of pricing, the model with the luminous rubber strap is priced at €1,295, approximately AED 4,965, while the version with the stainless steel bracelet is priced at €1,420, approximately AED 5,445.
