Showcasing the Brand’s Second In-House Movement in an Elegant Design
Pequignet was founded in 1973 by Émile Pequignet in Morteau, a French town nestled in the mountains near the Swiss border. A self-taught visionary, Émile Pequignet established the brand with the ambition to create distinctive timepieces that honor French heritage and craftsmanship.
The brand quickly gained recognition. In the early 2000s, Pequignet embarked on an ambitious journey to become a fully integrated manufacture. By inaugurating its own Haute Horlogerie laboratory in 2008, the brand began designing and producing its movements entirely in-house. This dedication led to the introduction of the Calibre Royal in 2011, followed by the Calibre Initial in 2021.
Launched in 2023 to celebrate Pequignet’s 50th anniversary, the Concorde collection continues to evolve. A subtle fusion of square and circular forms paired with an integrated bracelet, the design embodies French sophistication. Now, for the second anniversary of this collection, the French Manufacture from Franche-Comté unveils a new titanium variation.
Crafted from Grade 5 titanium alloy, this new reference preserves the distinct identity of the Concorde line. The slightly darker hue of the matte titanium, with its silky gray finish, harmonizes perfectly with the collection's refined aesthetic. The signature integrated bracelet is also fashioned from titanium, enhancing both lightness and durability.
The 36mm case, crafted from Grade 5 titanium with a shot-blasted finish and anti-fingerprint coating, measures a slim 9.25mm thick. Sapphire crystal protects both the front and back of the watch, while the crown at 3 o’clock, adorned with Pequignet’s fleur-de-lys emblem, ensures water resistance up to 100 meters.
The satin-finished dark gray dial echoes the tone of the titanium case. With no date window, the dial remains clean and elegant, reinforcing its timeless appeal. Polished steel hands mark the time, while the hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova X1 with green luminescence for exceptional legibility in low-light conditions.
Inside the watch beats the Initial calibre, an automatic movement fully designed by Pequignet, with 72% of its components manufactured in France, as part of the brand’s pursuit to create an entirely French-made timepiece. This movement was developed and assembled in the brand’s workshop in the city of Morteau. It offers an impressive power reserve of up to 65 hours and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The transparent sapphire crystal case back reveals the beauty of the meticulously crafted movement, showcasing Pequignet’s technical mastery and meticulous attention to detail.
The integrated bracelet, made of titanium with the same finish as the case and featuring distinctive spearhead-shaped links, pays homage to the Place de la Concorde obelisk in Paris. It comes with an interchangeability system and a folding clasp made from a mix of titanium and steel. The Concorde Titanium 36mm is priced at EUR 4,800, which is equivalent to 20,000 AED.
