In a realm where automotive passion intersects with horological craftsmanship, Nodus and Matt Farah have once again joined forces to create a bold, driving-inspired timepiece. The latest collaboration between Nodus and the well-known Los Angeles automotive journalist with a youtube channel known as “The Smoking Tire” Matt Farah”, who transcends the conventional boundaries of automotive-themed watches. Nodus focuses on a more abstract approach—a category that captures the essence of driving itself.
Nodus steps again into this category with their latest creation, the result of a seamless collaboration with Matt Farah, promising a watch that goes beyond mere aesthetic imitation, embodying the very feeling of being behind the wheel. In this article we unravel the driving-inspired narrative woven into the design of Nodus's newest timepiece ”The Canyon Sunset Orange By Matt Farah”, a synthesis of automotive passion and watchmaking artistry.
The watch remains identical in terms of dimensions comparing it with the first limited edition Mint colorway edition, as it comes with a stainless steel case that measures 41 mm in diameter and 11.5mm in thickness. The screw-down triple-seal crown, adorned with a Copper PVD cap that pays homage to the vehicles in Farah's personal collection, many of which boast distinctive bronze-colored wheels. The case back features engravings that capture the essence of Farah's preferred driving routes, tracing the picturesque paths of Angeles Crest Highway and Big Tujunga Canyon Road. Shielding the beautiful sunset orange dial beneath, a flat sapphire crystal treated with a blue anti-reflective coating on its underside, minimizing glare and enhancing readability in various lighting conditions.
Speaking of the dial, when you look closely you'll notice some automotive inspired touches with details that enthusiasts will find appealing. Take, for instance, the faceted hour and minute hands, blending brushed and polished surfaces. The seconds hand draws its inspiration from the tachometer needles found in classic sports cars. Upon closer inspection of the dial, a yellow to orange red gradient on the minute track emerges from 0 to 15, referencing the redline of a tachometer scale.
The timepiece is powered by the La Joux-Perret G101 automatic caliber—crafted in the horological heartland of Switzerland. Boasting 24 set jewels, With a power reserve of 68 hours, and operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz).
