A new addition to the luxury sport collection with a green lacquer meteorite dial
Introduced in 2020, the Czapek Antarctique made a bold statement in the luxury sports watch category with its integrated bracelet design. Over the years, we've witnessed a captivating array of releases from the brand, including the Antarctique Royal Onyx and the Antarctique in Gold. Since its debut four years ago, the Antarctique has garnered acclaim as a contemporary classic watch. Now, Czapek uses a meteorite, and introduces the Antarctique Green Meteor with a Gibeon meteorite dial.
Just like its predecessors, the watch comes in a 40.5mm brushed and polished stainless steel case, measuring 10.6mm in thickness. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal glass-box with anti-reflective treatment, and the movement can be seen through the sapphire case back, which also features anti-reflective treatment on the inner side.
The dial of the new Antarctique Green Meteor is crafted from the Gibeon meteorite, a celestial body that descended to Earth during prehistoric times, estimated to be approximately 600 million years ago. To unveil the intricate beauty of the meteorite's pattern, a slice of the raw material undergoes an acid-washing process followed by polishing. The angles of the lines within the pattern are determined by the plane on which the raw material was cut.
The natural gray hue of the meteorite is transformed into a rich green tone through the application of multiple layers of lacquer. The design of the dial, featuring faceted trapezoid indexes and sword-shaped hands, allows the geometric patterns of the meteorite to take center stage.
The watch is powered by the in-house automatic SXH5 caliber, equipped with a Swiss lever escapement and a variable-inertia balance wheel. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz), this timepiece offers a power reserve of 60 hours. The integrated stainless steel bracelet features the brand's exclusive "Easy Release" system, enabling effortless strap changes, while a micro-adjustment device ensures a perfect fit for every wrist. For those seeking a different aesthetic, an additional calf leather or rubber strap is included. Limited to just 100 pieces, the watch is priced at CHF 25,000, equivalent to AED 101,200.
