Introducing AWAKE Unveils the Limited-Edition Jurassic Watches Duo

Unique Dials Pay Tribute to One of the Most Iconic Films of the ’90s

AWAKE introduces the Jurassic Watch Edition, a collaborative project that unites artisans and technicians in a creative tribute to a film that captivated millions of viewers growing up in the 1990s. This exclusive release is designed for both watch enthusiasts and movie fans alike.

For this special edition, the French company draws on its Sơn Mài collection, the brand’s first permanent line, featuring time-only watches that showcase the ancestral Vietnamese art of sanded lacquer paired with pure silver leaf gilding. The technique is used to craft two stunning dials, each paying homage to one of the iconic dinosaurs from the Jurassic World franchise.

The AWAKE Sơn Mài collection features a 39 mm case made from recycled 316L stainless steel. The polished bezel, case middle, and lugs are accentuated by an elegant chamfer running from lug to lug, while the case sides feature a contrasting horizontal brushed finish.

The caseback is framed by a laser-engraved “jungle” motif, inspired by the lush foliage seen throughout the film. At 12 o’clock, the “Jurassic Watch” project name is engraved, while “Swiss Made” appears at 6 o’clock in a font evocative of the saga’s iconic style. The individual watch number is engraved at 3 o’clock.

To add depth and texture, each dial begins with the application of pure silver leaf, followed by layers of hand-applied Sơn Mài lacquer. This intricate and time-consuming process, requiring over 10 hours of meticulous craftsmanship; results in a one-of-a-kind dial with remarkable visual richness.

The RAPTORS version features a dial in varying shades of green, reminiscent of the eye of the Velociraptor, the saga’s most cunning predator. Three claw marks are slashed across the dial, echoing the beast’s fearsome forelimbs.

The T-REX edition boasts a vibrant fire-orange gradient dial, marked by its bold reflections and fiery tones. Above the 6 o’clock hour marker, two claw marks subtly applied, nod to the T-Rex’s signature two-clawed forelimbs.

A complex construction of indexes and hands, coated in BGW9 Super-LumiNova, enhances both editions with a dramatic interplay of light and shadow, transforming the space between the sapphire crystal and dial into a chamber of glowing reflections.

As all Son Mai Silver Leaf collection, powering these timepieces is the La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement, known for its 68-hour power reserve and 28,800 vph frequency. This movement features a custom tungsten oscillating weight with intricate reliefs and hollows, creating a visually captivating effect. It sits within a “clous de Paris” textured ring, adding further sophistication.

Each version is paired with a leather strap made from scaled salmon skin, deep green for the Raptors and bright orange for the T-Rex, both fitted with a recycled stainless steel pin buckle.

Each edition is limited to only 50 pieces and is priced at €2,075, equivalent to AED 8,700.
