A First for the Watch, A New Seven-Link Bracelet in Yellow Gold
Rolex introduced the Perpetual 1908 collection two years ago as the successor to the Cellini, offering a refined take on classic watchmaking. Last year, at Watches and Wonders, the collection expanded with a platinum edition, maintaining the same design, dimensions, and movement. For Watches and Wonders 2025, Rolex extends the lineup once again, this time with a yellow gold version, now paired with the newly designed Settimo bracelet, a sophisticated seven-link bracelet crafted entirely from yellow gold.
The 39mm yellow gold case retains the sleek proportions of its predecessors, measuring just 9.5mm in thickness and offering 50m of water resistance. The combination of a domed and fluted bezel, along with smoothly contoured lugs featuring chamfered edges, enhances the watch’s elegant profile. A domed sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the transparent fluted caseback offers a clear view of the movement.
The 1908 Golden Editions are available with a matte white or black dial, both featuring a refined satin finish. Additionally, a third version showcases an ice-blue dial adorned with a rice-grain guilloché pattern but its exclusive for the platinum case.
The design is characterized by a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock and applied Arabic numerals at 3, 9, and 12 o’clock. Like the baton hour indices, these numerals are crafted in yellow gold, faceted, and then applied. The double-edged sword-shaped minute hand and the distinctive open-circle hour hand, also in yellow gold, reinforce the collection’s timeless elegance.
At the heart of the 1908 is the Rolex Calibre 7140, a Superlative Chronometer-certified automatic movement developed and manufactured entirely in-house. It features Rolex’s patented Chronergy escapement and a Syloxi silicon hairspring, ensuring exceptional precision and reliability.
Beating at 4Hz, the movement incorporates an openworked Perpetual rotor in 18k yellow gold, optimizing winding efficiency. The movement delivers an impressive 66-hour power reserve.
For the first time, the 1908 is available on the newly introduced Settimo bracelet. Unlike the five-row Jubilee bracelet, the Settimo features seven rows of small, contoured links, each polished to perfection. Designed for optimal comfort, the bracelet integrates seamlessly with the case and is secured by a concealed folding Crownclasp.
The Rolex Perpetual 1908 in yellow gold is priced at CHF 33,400, approximately 138,870 AED.
