A Unique Platinum Edition Among ِCompany's New 2024 Releases for Watches and Wonders
In 2021, Patek Philippe unveiled the Perpetual Calendar 5236P, a standout timepiece featuring a patented in-line display, marking a significant innovation as the first perpetual calendar with such a design. The latest iteration maintains the essence of its predecessor while introducing a captivating salmon-colored dial. At the Watch and Wonders 2024 event, Patek Philippe launched numerous editions, all crafted in white gold for the new Nautilus and Aquanaut lines, with one notable exception: the 5236P stands out as the sole edition available in platinum, adding a distinct touch of luxury and exclusivity.
The elegant platinum case measuring 41.3mm in diameter and only 11.07mm thick is entirely hand-polished and set with a diamond at 6 o’clock. Its sloping lugs extend the visual momentum of the beveled bezel, topped with a crystal sapphire and a sapphire crystal case-back which is interchangeable with a solid platinum case-back.
The corrector pusher for the month and year is positioned at the side adjacent to the 2 o’clock index, while the date, day of the week, and moon-phase corrector pushers blend seamlessly on the opposite side. The crown is dedicated solely to manual winding and time-setting functions.
The salmon opaline, or as the company calls it, rose-gilt dial of this watch is a visual delight. It features an in-line perpetual calendar display showcasing the day, date, and month within a framed aperture positioned above the center. A minute railroad track surrounds the dial, with time indicated by the white-gold baton hands, while charcoal grey white gold applied indices mark the hours. The moon phase indicator finds its place within the small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, accompanied by a small round aperture indicating the leap year cycle on the right, while its counterpart indicating the day/night cycle sits opposite.
In 2021, Patek Philippe introduced the caliber 31-260 PS QL, drawing inspiration from the architecture of the innovative 5235G Annual Calendar Regulator and re-engineering it to create the world's first in-line perpetual calendar wristwatch.
At the core of the 5236P-010 lies the automatic caliber 31-260 PS QL, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and providing a power reserve of 48 hours. Automatic winding is facilitated by the off-centered, unidirectional mini-rotor crafted in platinum. With its patented in-line perpetual calendar module, this movement comprises an impressive 503 parts. The elegantly finished calibre bears the Patek Philippe seal visible through the sapphire caseback, adorned with perlage, Geneva stripes, and gold engravings.
The watch comes equipped with an alligator leather strap featuring large square scales in a shiny chocolate brown hue, complemented by a fold-over clasp crafted in 950 platinum. Its price is CHF 120,000, equivalent to 483,000 AED.
