Celebrating the Heritage of Classic Yachts in Collaboration with the Italian Association Riva
Since 2009, Frederique Constant has been celebrating the legendary Runabout yachts of the roaring 20s by offering an attractive series of limited edition timepieces named “Runabout.” A company devoted to measuring time, Frederique Constant, and the Riva Historical Society (RHS), an association dedicated to the art of drifting through the waves, are united in their vision of upholding workmanship, beauty, and attention to detail. Founded in Milan, Italy, in 1998, the RHS is a nonprofit amateur sports and cultural association. As guardians of a classic boat legacy, the RHS’s primary objective is to locate and aid in the conservation of classic runabout boats designed by boating enthusiasts. For this partnership, the company offers two new timepieces with blue dials inspired by the deep sea colors.
The two new editions come encased in a stainless steel three-part case, measuring 36mm and 10.34mm in thickness, while the other, at 42mm, is 11.5mm thick. Retaining the distinctive style of the "High Life" collection, the tonneau-shaped case exhibits scalloped facets at both ends and is predominantly adorned with a sporty satin-brushed finish, featuring polished accents on the bezel and crown. The case is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides and a transparent case back. Each watch has an individual number engraved on the case back, with black painting on the sapphire crystal for the Runabout logo. The cases boast water resistance up to 50 meters.
Runabout pieces from Frederique Constant honour the Society with a visible movement for all to admire thanks to a sapphire background that offers up a glimpse of the watch’s intimate workings, engraved with the RHS (Riva Historical Society) logo.
These two limited editions showcase a blue dial, inspired by the color of the sea, with a clous de Paris guilloché in the center surrounded by a sunray finish where the Arabic numerals and indices are applied.
Applied Arabic numerals 2/4/8/10/12 and applied indices 1/3/5/6/7/9/11. The indices, as well as the hour and minute hands, are coated with blue Superluminova, while the white date window is located at 6 o'clock.
Both watches are powered by Frederique Constant’s automatic caliber FC-303, based on the Sellita SW200 caliber. It beats at 28,800 vph and delivers a relatively limited 38-hour power reserve.
The 36mm edition is priced at EUR 1,595, which is equivalent to 6,300 AED. On the other hand, the 42mm edition costs slightly more, at EUR 1,695, translating to 6,700 AED.
The watches are available at Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, the company’s retailer at the United Arab Emirates.
