Konstantin Chaykin Breaks the Record for World's Thinnest Mechanical Watch

For many years, the world’s leading watchmaking companies have been competing to produce the thinnest mechanical watches. Prestigious brands such as PiagetBulgari, and Richard Mille have been at the forefront of this race, with Bulgari securing a prominent position, dominating various categories. Recently, Bulgari made headlines by reintroducing its ultra-thin minute repeater during the first day of the Geneva Watch Days. Piaget previously held the title for the thinnest tourbillon watch at the Watches and Wonders event.

However, a new contender has emerged from Eastern Europe. Russian watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin unveiled a prototype that puts him at the forefront of the ultra-thin watch category.

Introducing The New Czapek Antarctique S Mirrored Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition

Commemorating the 70th anniversary of the brand’s retailer in South-East Asia, Sincere Fine Watches

Czapek is celebrating Sincere Fine Watches' 70th anniversary, its retailer in South-East Asia, and unveils a remarkable limited edition timepiece: the Antarctique S Mirrored Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition, featuring a two-tone case and bracelet, along with a silicon wafer dial.

The case is crafted from stainless steel, complemented by a yellow gold bezel and crown protectors all the way to the bracelet’s link. It measures 38.5mm in diameter and 10.6mm in thickness including the glass-box sapphire crystal. The timepiece features a screw-down crown and offers a water resistance of 120 meters. On the caseback, a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment on the inner side reveals the Sincere Fine Watches 70th Anniversary Commemorative Logo.

This mirrored dial, created in collaboration with dial maker MD’Art, marks a first for Czapek. It is crafted from a single silicon wafer—a material commonly used in microelectronics and photovoltaics. The wafer, made of crystalline silicon, is polished to achieve a flawlessly smooth and shiny surface. A fine PVD coating of platinum is then applied, enhancing the reflective properties of the silicon and giving the dial its distinctive, lustrous appearance.

The rhodium-plated indexes on the dial are coated with SuperLumiNova, which emits a blue glow in low-light conditions. Additionally, the sword-shaped hands are treated with a luminescent material, ensuring that both the indexes and hands are highly visible even in darkness.

The watch is powered by the calibre SXH5, an in-house automatic movement with a platinum micro-rotor, operating at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offering a 56-hour power reserve. It features an integrated stainless steel bracelet with yellow gold links and a folding clasp. Limited to 38 pieces, the watch is available exclusively at Sincere Fine Watch Boutiques, priced at 48,800 Singapore Dollars, equivalent to AED 138,500.
