Introducing Seiko Unveils Three New Stunning Diving Watches

Celebrating the brand’s 60th anniversary of its first diving watch

For Seiko, 2025 isn’t just another year; it marks the 60th anniversary of the brand’s first dive watch, a milestone celebrated with the launch of three striking new models. These watches blend the rich history of Seiko’s dive watch lineage with modern enhancements.

The Marinemaster Returns in Titanium (SLA081)

The standout model of the release is the Prospex Marinemaster SLA081, a professional-grade dive watch that pays homage to the brand’s legendary saturation divers. Seiko fans will immediately recognize the monobloc case design, a hallmark of the brand’s high-end dive watches. But this time, the Marinemaster is crafted from titanium, offering a significant weight reduction without compromising durability.

The watch features a titanium case with a super-hard coating, ensuring durability, and is equipped with an L-shaped gasket to prevent helium infiltration. The case measures 45.4mm in diameter and 16mm in thickness. Additionally, the stainless steel unidirectional bezel is fitted with a DLC-coated metallic insert, offering a sleek, modern aesthetic. The watch's most exceptional feature is its 600m water resistance.

The gradient blue dial is inspired by the shifting hues of the ocean depths and features LumiBrite coating (Seiko’s luminous coating) on the hands and indices, with a date window at 3 o'clock.

It houses the Caliber 8L45, an automatic movement that operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and delivers a 50-hour power reserve. In a move that will excite long-time Seiko collectors, the SLA081 debuts a new micro-adjust clasp, allowing for quick sizing adjustments. The watch is limited to 600 pieces and priced at €5,200, which is approximately AED 20,700.

Seiko Prospex 1965 SPB511 & Prospex 1968 SPB509

Alongside the Marinemaster, Seiko introduces two vintage-inspired models: the SPB511 (white dial), which pays homage to Seiko’s first diver’s watch, and the SPB509 (blue dial), inspired by a diver watch from 1968. These watches stay true to their historical counterparts while integrating modern enhancements. The Seiko Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT Watch (SPB511) and the Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch share many similarities, but they also have a few key differences. Let’s break down these features.

Both watches feature a stainless steel case with a super-hard coating that ensures durability and scratch resistance, ideal for the demanding environments of diving. However, the SPB511 has a slightly larger case size, measuring 42mm in diameter and 13.3mm in thickness, giving it a more substantial presence on the wrist. In contrast, the SPB509 has a 40mm diameter and 13mm thickness, providing a more compact style. Both cases feature screw-down crowns and screw case backs, ensuring 300m water resistance.

The SPB511 has a flat sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface, offering improved visibility in bright conditions. The SPB509, on the other hand, features a curved sapphire crystal with a similar anti-reflective coating. Both watches boast LumiBrite on the hands and indices, ensuring excellent legibility in low-light conditions, with a date window at 4:30. The GMT function on the SPB511 is a major differentiator, allowing the wearer to track a second time zone with the independent 24-hour hand adjustment, a feature absent in the SPB509.

Both watches are powered by automatic movements (Caliber 6R54 in the SPB511 and 6R55 in the SPB509) with a 72-hour power reserve and a 21,600 vph (3Hz). The bracelets on both models are made from stainless steel with a super-hard coating, with a three-fold clasp with push-button release.

Both watches are limited editions, with only 6,000 pieces available of each. The SPB511 is priced at €1,900, approximately equivalent to AED 7,600, while the SPB509 is priced at €1,500, approximately AED 6,000.
