Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
Enamel dial with a case inspired by a classic pocket watch
In the world of horology, collaborations between esteemed brands often yield exceptional results that celebrate craftsmanship and innovation. One such partnership is between Seiko, and Porter Classic, a distinguished Japanese fashion brand. Founded in 2007 by Katsuyuki Yoshida and his son, Leo, Porter Classic is known for its high-quality products that blend traditional craft techniques with modern design.
Now, this collaboration introduces a new enamel-dialed watch into the Presage Craftsmanship collection, which pays homage to the Laurel, Japan’s first wristwatch created by Seiko in 1913. This new creation captures the simple yet distinctive dial design of the original, featuring a round shape and proportions reminiscent of early 20th-century pocket watches.
The case comes with a classic round design, measuring 35mm in diameter and 12.3mm in thickness, crafted from polished stainless steel with a super hard coating for enhanced durability. It includes unique movable rounded lugs inspired by pocket watch bows, while a box-shaped sapphire crystal protects the dial and boasts an anti-reflective coating on its inner surface for improved visibility. At 3 o’clock, an elegant onion crown adds a touch of sophistication. The solid steel case back is marked with the silhouette of Mr. Katsuyuki Yoshida, and the watch is water-resistant up to 50 meters.
The dial features a black enamel surface, carefully crafted by master enamel craftsman Mitsuru Yokosawa and his team. This exquisite dial is adorned with silver Breguet numerals, printed minute markers, and silver-tone hands. The 24-hour subdial is elegantly positioned at 6 o’clock.
The watch is powered by the in-house caliber 6R5H, an automatic movement. Operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), it offers a 72-hour power reserve, ensuring the watch remains functional for up to three days without winding, and an accuracy of +25/-15 seconds per day.
The watch includes two straps, one in black and the other in brown Cordovan leather, both with a stainless steel pin buckle. The watch will be limited to just 500 pieces and will be available in November 2024 at price EUR 2,400 which is equivalent to AED 9,600.
