Introducing Panerai Unveils Its Third Annual Calendar Watch

In celebration of its new Casa Panerai opening in Paris

The Panerai Radiomir collection stands as one of the brand's most iconic and historically significant lines. The Radiomir series pays homage to Panerai's roots as a supplier of precision instruments to the Royal Italian Navy during the early to mid-20th century. Characterized by distinctive cushion-shaped cases and minimalist design elements, this collection has become synonymous with a blend of vintage aesthetics and modern functionality.

While the collection boasts numerous editions and varieties, one of the most anticipated and intricate complications was unveiled for the first time in 2023 during Watches & Wonders 2023. Panerai introduced an Annual Calendar, marking the brand's first foray into this complication since its establishment in 1860. The Annual Calendar was available in two different metals, adding a new dimension to Panerai's diverse range of timepieces.

Their lineup for the 2023 Watches & Wonders fair seems to be a big celebration for the Radiomir, and this ultra-luxury offering is one of the grandest ways that they could honor the model. The Panerai Radiomir Annual Calendar impresses on all fronts and further expands its catalog of complicated models.

The cases, crafted from Panerai's Platinumtech and Goldtech alloys, measured 45mm in size, ensuring the Panerai Radiomir Annual Calendar is perfectly wearable on an average-sized wrist. The cushion case features a brushed main surface, allowing the polished bezel to gleam in contrast. The two gradient dials are characterized by the "sandwich" structure, comprising a base layer with Super-LumiNova and a second plate over the top with cutouts for the hour markers and numerals. The goldtech edition showcases a beautiful sun-brushed burgundy dial, while the platinumtech edition features a blue hue dial.

As the company embarks on a new marketing strategy for the next two years, the flagship boutique, known as the Casa, is at the forefront of this initiative. Starting from Milan and extending to New York, the focus has now shifted to Paris, where Panerai recently inaugurated their latest Casa Panerai. The grand opening was commemorated with an exclusive reinterpretation of their luxurious Radiomir Annual Calendar.

This special edition also comes in Platinumtech, an exclusive Panerai platinum alloy that is harder and more robust than regular platinum. It features a bezel composed of polished Platinumtech and a conical crown at 3 o'clock for setting the month and date. Additionally, a corrector on the left side of the case at 8 o'clock allows for changing the day click by click.

Deep green sandwich dial featuring a radiant sunray finish and a smoky fumé effect. Indices, Arabic numerals, and hands are presented in a golden hue, while lettering and date indications arrive in a contrasting white.

Panerai watches are famous for their clear and immediate readability of the dial. To achieve this goal with all the calendar information, the day of the week, date, and month are arranged on the same row at 3 o'clock. Reaffirming its Italian roots, the information and the name of the complication, Calendario Annuale, are written in Italian. The day and the date appear through two openings, while the current month is displayed on a rotating disc at the periphery of the dial, indicated by a fixed arrow at 3 o’clock, with a subdial for small seconds at 9 o’clock.

A cam within the mechanism enables the rotating disc to change information instantly with each monthly cycle. The change between 30-day and 31-day months is done automatically by the mechanism, requiring a setting only once a year, at the end of February.

Visible through the transparent sapphire crystal case back, the self-winding P.9010/AC, the caliber made in house beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) with a power reserve of 3 days thanks to two barrels.

The watch is accompanied by a classic dark brown hand-dyed alligator strap with polished white gold buckle. The PAM01364 Radiomir Annual Calendar is only available at the new Casa Panerai boutique in Paris. prices at USD 57,800 which is equivalent to 212,000 AED.
