A Green Mother-of-Pearl Dial in Support of the Billion Oyster Project
Oris continues its support of the Billion Oyster Project, an ambitious initiative in New York Harbor that aims to restore one of the region’s native shellfish populations. The project has already reintroduced around 150 million oysters, though the ultimate goal remains one billion.
To mark this ongoing partnership, Oris presents the Aquis New York Harbor Limited Edition II, a special edition based on the brand’s iconic Aquis Date collection in its largest case size.
The watch features a robust multi-part stainless steel case measuring 43.5 mm in diameter and 13.1 mm in height, complemented by short, ergonomic lugs for a comfortable fit.
It is equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel in matte sandblasted steel, featuring a detailed 15-minute scale and raised Arabic numerals and markers for a tactile, three-dimensional effect. A luminescent pip at 12 o’clock ensures clarity during underwater timing.
A double-domed sapphire crystal safeguards the dial, while the screw-down caseback is engraved with a motif of three oysters, the inscription “New York Harbor Limited Edition”, and the watch’s individual number out of 2,000. A prominent crown guard reinforces the sporty silhouette, and the case delivers water resistance to 300 meters.
The highlight of this limited edition is its striking dial, crafted from mother-of-pearl in a shimmering aqua-green hue. The iridescent surface beautifully evokes the rippling waters of New York Harbor. Signature shield-shaped hour markers and Alpha hands, coated with Super-LumiNova, ensure legibility. A white date window at 6 o’clock maintains balance, while the central seconds hand is tipped with a luminous lollipop-style marker.
Powering this limited edition is the Oris Calibre 733, based on the reliable Sellita SW200-1, the automatic movement offers a power reserve of approximately 38 hours and beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour). It features an instantaneous date change that snaps precisely at midnight, a fine timing device for accurate regulation, and a stop-seconds or "hacking" function that allows for exact time setting.
The watch comes on a three-link stainless steel bracelet and is supplied with an additional aqua-green rubber strap with a steel folding clasp. Limited to 2,000 pieces worldwide, the Oris Aquis New York Harbor Limited Edition II is priced at CHF 2,550 (approx. AED 11,625).
