Featuring New Dial Colors and a Robust In-House Movement
Oris unveils its latest addition to the iconic Big Crown Pointer Date collection, featuring a fresh look and powered by the in-house Caliber 403. This is the same movement the brand introduced in 2021 for the 38mm models, and now it returns with two 40mm versions and two new dial colors.
The Big Crown Pointer Date was first introduced in 1938 and has always been one of Oris' most famous models. Now, it receives a design update, including a polished bezel replacing the previous fluted version, while retaining the same multi-piece stainless steel case. The last Big Crown release from last year was made of bronze, as seen in the limited edition that paid tribute to Lord's Cricket Ground in London.
The new Oris Big Crown Pointer Date comes in a 40mm diameter with a thickness of 12.3mm, housed in a multi-piece stainless steel case with a polished bezel. It features a large screw-in crown, a double-domed sapphire crystal with AR coating to protect the dial, and a screwed display caseback revealing the movement. The watch offers a water resistance of 50 meters.
The dial options include earthy green or terracotta ("pink"). The date track runs along the periphery, with a railroad minute track beneath it. The small seconds subdial is positioned at 6 o'clock.
The date is indicated by a central hand with a green or brighter terracotta-colored tip. Arabic numerals, indices, and hands are all treated with white Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility in low light.
Powering these models is the Oris automatic Caliber 403, an in-house developed movement featuring twin barrels for a 120-hour power reserve.
It also includes a silicon escape wheel to ensure resistance to magnetic fields and beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz). The movement is regulated for a precision of -3/+5 seconds per day, meeting chronometric standards.
For these two editions, Oris introduces a multi-piece 3-link stainless steel bracelet with brushed and polished links, secured with a folding clasp. Alternatively, a Cervo Volante leather strap with a folding clasp is available.
The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Caliber 403 is priced at CHF 3,600 (equivalent to 15,750 AED) with the leather strap, and CHF 3,800 (equivalent to 16,630 AED) with the bracelet.
