Introducing Orient Celebrates Its 75th Anniversary with New Mako Releases

Five references expand the brand’s diving watch collection

Founded in 1950, Orient has long been recognized for its dependable mechanical watches, offered at a price point that continues to surprise. As the brand celebrates its 75th anniversary, it revisits one of its most popular series, the Mako, with five releases that pay homage to its diving heritage. First launched in 2004, the Orient Mako became one of the brand’s icons, praised for its robust construction, accessible price, and thoughtful design.

The Mako maintains the traditional size, with a 41.8 mm stainless steel case measuring 12.8 mm thick and 46.8 mm lug-to-lug. The Mako 40 takes a more compact approach, featuring a 39.9 mm case, the same 12.8 mm thickness, and a slightly shorter 46.5 mm lug-to-lug profile. All watches are equipped with sapphire crystals, screw-down crowns, and unidirectional rotating bezels.

Each screw-down caseback is engraved with the words “Orient Since 1950 – 75th Anniversary” along with the individual serial number. The models offer 200 meters of water resistance, making them suitable for swimming.

The Mako’s bright sky-blue dial, with its sunburst texture and retro Orient cursive logo from the 1950s. The Mako 40 also features this striking blue dial, along with additional color options in red, green, and gray. Golden, sunlight-inspired second hands add a playful contrast to the cooler tones, while luminous indexes and hands ensure readability in all lighting conditions.

The Mako is powered by Orient’s in-house F6922 movement, an automatic calibre that offers both day and date complications. It runs at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz) and delivers a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. Inside the Mako 40, you’ll find the F6722 movement. Nearly identical in functionality and performance, this version simplifies the layout with a date-only display, offering a cleaner and more minimalist look.

All models are fitted with SUS316L stainless steel bracelets, each secured with a tri-fold deployant clasp featuring a push-button release and safety latch for a secure fit on the wrist. The blue dial variants are limited to 6,000 pieces and priced at EUR 429, approximately AED 1,800, while the other variants join the brand’s permanent collection at a price of EUR 399, approximately AED 1,700.
