The Classic and elegant collection now with Omega's yellow gold alloy
The Seamaster Aqua Terra collection is known for its elegance, durability, and versatility, holding a special place in Omega's catalogs. Following the introduction of the black lacquer dial models last month, which are available in a trio of sizes, Omega has now unveiled five new references to this classic collection. These latest additions are crafted in their exquisite Moonshine Gold alloy, further enhancing the allure and sophistication of the Seamaster Aqua Terra collecion.
You might wonder, what is Moonshine Gold? It is Omega's 18k yellow gold, inspired by the shining moonlight in a dark blue sky. This alloy is a bit paler than typical yellow gold and is said to be more resistant to fading over time. Moonshine Gold is composed of 75% gold, 14.5% silver, 9% copper, and 1% palladium. As for the new references, Omega has introduced three watches in a 41mm size and two in a 38mm size.
Let's start with the new 41mm editions. These watches measure 13.4mm in thickness and feature a sapphire crystal on both sides, ensuring a 150m water-resistance. Two of these editions are available in Moonshine Gold with a PVD green dial, showcasing a beautiful horizontal striped pattern seen previously, along with gold hands and indices and a date window at 6 o'clock. Additionally, Omega has introduced a two-tone, steel-and-gold version featuring Moonshine Gold, and an elegant black lacquered dial. Moonshine Gold is used for the bezel, crown, and the bracelet’s mid-links, while the green model can be paired with a green rubber strap or Moonshine gold bracelet.
The green dial variant is powered by the caliber 8901, an automatic movement made specifically for fully gold models. It operates at 21,600 vph (3.5 Hz) and offers a 60-hour power reserve. On the other hand, the two-tone variant with the black dial is powered by the caliber 8900, which is also automatic and shares the same frequency and power reserve as the 8901 but is designed for steel or two-tone models.
As for the remaining two watches from the five new references, these are the Aqua Terra 38mm models, offering a slightly more compact version of the collection with a thickness of 12.3mm. These watches come in either an 18k Moonshine Gold case or a Steel-and-Moonshine Gold case, featuring sapphire crystal on both sides, a screw-in crown, and 150m water-resistance.
The full gold variant boasts a sunburst PVD-treated blue dial with an 18k Moonshine Gold Omega logo and a date window at 6 o'clock. The hands and indices, also in 18k Moonshine Gold, are filled with white Super-LumiNova, which emits a blue glow. The two-tone variant, on the other hand, features a lacquered burgundy dial with a black gradient effect and shares the 18k Moonshine Gold accents on the dial.
Just like the 41mm models, the 38mm models are powered by either the caliber 8800 for the two-tone variant or the caliber 8801 for the full gold variant. Both are automatic movements operating at 21,600 vph (3Hz) and offering 55 hours of power reserve.
The prices of the 41mm variants range from CHF 12,900 to 37,000, which is equivalent to AED 53,500 to 153,500. Meanwhile, the prices of the 38mm variants range from CHF 12,200 to 33,500, equivalent to AED 50,600 to 139,000.
