Three chronographs and three time-only watches exclusive to the boutiques
Inspired by Omega’s rich maritime heritage, the Seamaster Planet Ocean made its debut in 2005. Today, this collection remains a testament to the brand's legacy of dive watches, blending timeless style with cutting-edge precision. The Omega Planet Ocean series stands as a monumental success for the brand. Striking the perfect balance between luxury and functionality, these timepieces have earned their place as icons. Offering a diverse range of sizes, utilizing state-of-the-art materials, and boasting versatile designs, the Planet Ocean series has cemented its status among Omega's most beloved lines. Enhanced further by the latest in-house movements and strategic marketing collaborations, it's no wonder why the collection ranks among Omega's top sellers.
Omega has recently unveiled six new boutique editions of the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M. These additions to the Planet Ocean family don't merely alter the existing line; rather, they expand it in a contemporary manner, likely to resonate with the casual, style-conscious watch enthusiast. Available in beige, gunmetal, and steel/green color schemes, this new selection of both three-handers and chronographs has already garnered significant acclaim. Let's delve into what makes these timepieces worthy of such praise.
This 43.50 mm, towering 16.2mm thick model is crafted in brushed stainless steel and features a brushed silicon nitride ceramic bezel ring, with its diving scale in liquid ceramic and Super-LumiNova. This is a legitimate diving tool. It boasts the 3 o'clock screw-down crown, a helium escape valve at 10, and a domed sapphire crystal with AR treatment on both sides. The caseback crystal on every model bears the Seamaster hippocampus emblem, and the caseback utilizes the brand's Naiad Lock system, ensuring perfect alignment when fully secured.
The dials are available in three colorways: beige/bronze, gunmetal/black, and steel/green, each featuring a sand-blasted varnish and a date window positioned at 3 o’clock. In the beige dial version, a white date wheel is incorporated, while the other two variants display less successful attempts at color coordination. The OMEGA logo, Arabic numerals, hands, and hour markers are all finished in PVD grey with a brushed texture, while white Super-LumiNova enhances visibility in low-light conditions.
Driven by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 8900, beneath the sapphire crystal on the caseback lies the brand's signature coaxial escapement. Operating at 25,200 vph (3.5hz) with a robust power reserve of 60 hours, this movement exemplifies Omega's commitment to precision. True to Omega's standards, the 8900 is a Master Chronometer, guaranteeing an accuracy of 0 to +5 seconds per day. Notably, it boasts an independently adjustable hour hand, allowing effortless adjustment without disrupting the watch's overall operation.
The New Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Boutique Editions in gunmetal and brushed steel are priced at $7,100 USD which is equivalent to 26,000 AED, while the beige is priced at $7,500 USD which is equivalent to 27,500 AED.

The chronographs feature cases with an identical style but are distinguished by even grander dimensions: 45.5mm in diameter, 52.3mm lug-to-lug, and a substantial 19mm thickness. The bezel design has been slightly altered, featuring a solid 15-minute block from 0-15, along with color-coordinated chronograph pushers. Additionally, the strap has been widened from 21mm to 22mm, enhancing the overall aesthetics to complement the broader case. It's worth noting that while the pushers may appear to be screw-down, they are not, despite the 600m water resistance capability. Another notable addition to the Planet Ocean 600m line is the finishing on the ceramic bezel. Traditionally, these bezels are seen in a high gloss finish, but in this collection, they are brushed. The colors include bronze for the beige model, black for the gunmetal variant, and green for the brushed steel option.
The chronograph models showcase identical color schemes, which include the wonderfully charming color-matched Seamaster and depth rating text. However, the layout has been noticeably altered. In these models, you'll find a chronograph function, featuring a running seconds subdial at 9 o'clock, and 60-minute and 12-hour counters at 3 o'clock. Naturally, this arrangement leaves the 6 o'clock position for the date window. What's particularly appealing about the chronographs is the distinct finish given to each colorway's registers, which are color-coordinated: brushed on the steel dial, sandblasted on the gunmetal dial, and adorned with circular grooves on the beige dial, while the subdials boast a snailed finish.
On the contrary, the chronographs are equipped with the automatic chronograph Omega 9900 movement. Like its counterpart, this is a co-axial Master Chronometer movement boasting a 60-hour power reserve, but with a beat rate of 28,800 vph. It incorporates a column wheel chronograph mechanism. What might astonish you even more than the 8900 is discovering that this caliber also offers an independently adjustable hour hand.
The watches all get rubber straps with foldover buckles; while the straps look like they may have a textile insert, they are in fact all rubber, potentially making them even more worry free.
The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M chronograph in gunmetal and brushed steel are priced at $9,000 USD which is equivalent to 33,000 AED, while the beige is priced at $9,700 USD which is equivalent to 35,600 AED.
