Editorial Breitling Navitimer: The Watch That Does More Than Tell Time
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
The Perfect Intersection of Ancient Craftsmanship and Cosmic Wonders for Only Watch 2023
De Bethune's Dream Watch collection is a magnificent fusion of horology and artistry, where the traditional boundaries of watchmaking are transcended. Crafted under the skilled hands of Denis Flageollet and his team, these timepieces encapsulate timeless aesthetics, while simultaneously embracing the future of horology. The Dream Watch series, as the name suggests, seems as though plucked from a dream, given its unique blend of shapes, materials, and colors. The iconic cambered delta-shaped motif, a hallmark of De Bethune's philosophy, is a consistent feature across the collection, symbolizing the brand's unique approach to watchmaking.
De Bethune is synonymous with exceptional timepieces, and with the unveiling of the DW5 Seeking Perfect for Only Watch 2023, the Swiss watchmaker once again asserts its mastery. This exceptional watch has been forged from the very core of the earth, imbued with the celestial remnants of meteorites, and crafted with an alchemy of steel-making techniques that has become a signature of Denis Flageollet, the brand's co-founder and Master Watchmaker.
An Homage to Ancient Alchemy
The case of the DW5 SP is unlike any other, made from iron ore discovered near the De Bethune manufacture, at L’Auberson. Flaegollet embraced nature's raw materials, and through a painstaking process of heating, crushing, and reducing the ore, he birthed a compact mass of iron and steel. This material was then delicately shaped into the case of the DW5 Seeking Perfect, a process that took several weeks and months of research to perfect.
Cosmic Origins
The dial of the DW5 SP reflects the cosmos, carved from a ferrous meteorite and polished to a lustrous blued finish. This celestial body has traversed the vast expanse of the universe before finding its home on the wrist. The spherical moon-phase indication is also fashioned from the same meteorite, offering a precision of 1 lunar day every 1112 years, an impressive De Bethune patent from 2004.
Precision-Engineered Calibre
The heart of this timepiece is the Calibre DB2149, complete with 356 components and 35 rubies. The watch runs at a frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour and possesses a power reserve of four days. The movement also includes an ultra-light 30-second De Bethune tourbillon, a feat of horological innovation achieved in 2008, designed in silicon and titanium.
Exquisite Details
The case dimensions are a robust 58 mm in length, 47 mm in width, and a substantial 16 mm in thickness, providing an ample canvas to showcase the meticulous detailing. The bracelet, made from extra-supple alligator leather, ensures that the timepiece is as comfortable as it is eye-catching.
A blue sapphire cabochon on the crown adds a touch of luxury, while a QR code engraved on the back of the watch allows the future owner access to unique information about this one-of-a-kind piece.
An Unforgettable Experience
But the DW5 Seeking Perfect doesn't just stop at the timepiece. The future owner will also have the unique opportunity to visit the De Bethune Manufacture in Sainte-Croix and experience a forge tour with Denis Flageollet himself.
In a world of mass production, the De Bethune DW5 Seeking Perfect stands as a testament to the power of human ingenuity, timeless craftsmanship, and the celestial beauty of the universe. It is truly a unique timepiece, designed for those who value exclusivity, precision, and a connection with the cosmos.
