Introducing Cyrus Unveils The Klepcys Reveil

You see, the market is flooded with all sorts of intricate timepieces, each boasting its own set of mesmerizing complications meant to dazzle and delight. Yet, it's interesting how the alarm complication, despite being a favorite among watch enthusiasts and collectors, remains somewhat rare. In an industry where innovation and sophistication reign supreme, it's almost baffling how few watches offer this unique feature. Amidst the sea of watchmaking wonders, few brands stand out, and Cyrus is one of the distinctive brands that showcase this complication in captivating ways.

In 2018, the indie Swiss brand introduced its first alarm function timepiece, crafted by the skilled master watchmaker Jean-François Mojon. Now, during Watches And Wonders 2024, the Maison unveils a new addition to this collection, the "Klepcys Reveil" with new aesthetics and a smaller 42 mm case compared to the previous 46mm model. 

The new timepiece maintains the iconic cushion-shaped case, which has become a hallmark of CYRUS Genève's design. Constructed from polished and satin-finished stainless steel, this 17.15 thick case comprises a total of 26 components. The 3D bezel, affixed to the central body of the case, features a square base with curved sides and corners accentuated by polished facets. The case features a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating protecting the dial, as well as a sapphire crystal case back that offers a glimpse into the exquisite movement.

Unlike the previous release, both crowns, positioned at 3 and 9 o'clock, serve functional purposes and feature the brand's emblem, encircled by a rubber ring for enhanced grip. The crown located at 3 o'clock winds the movement and sets the main time and alarm, while pressing the crown pusher at 9 o'clock activates and deactivates the alarm function, indicated by a small blue arrow traversing the inscriptions "Marche" (ON) and "Arrêt" (OFF). 

The brass dial is adorned with refined rhodium-plated grenage decoration, a rare technique used in crafting watch dials. Positioned between 7 and 8 o'clock is a bell-shaped hammer boasting a polished, brushed finish and beveled edges. This hammer strikes to indicate the set alarm time on the dial, producing a pleasing sound that resonates for at least 16 seconds. Additionally, a sub-dial dedicated to the alarm function is situated between 4 and 5 o'clock. 

The dial features a 280° arc of main hour markings in relief, complemented by glossy black minute indices and white Arabic numerals filled with Super-LumiNova, emitting a captivating blue glow. Adding to its allure, the hour and minute hands are openworked and rhodium-plated, with electric blue tips, also filled with Super-LumiNova for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions. Positioned between 10 and 11 o'clock is a day/night indicator for the main time, featuring an electric blue background with a yellow sun denoting daytime and a dark blue backdrop adorned with stars and a moon symbolizing nighttime.

Powering the watch is the in-house hand-wound caliber CYR1280, operating at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offering 72 hours of power reserve. The refined design of the movement is beautifully revealed through the transparent case back, offering a captivating view of its inner workings. Notably, the display showcases two parallel barrels featuring black-lacquered ratchet wheels, along with the helix emblem, symbolizing CYRUS Genève's craftsmanship. It ingeniously utilizes one barrel near the balance wheel for the time, while the second barrel provides energy specifically for the alarm function. The timepiece comes with a glossy black alligator strap, with a steel folding clasp. It is priced at CHF 39,950 which is equivalent to AED 176,000.
