Introducing Chopard Unveils the L.U.C Qualité Fleurier 20th Anniversary Edition

Celebrating 20 years of the Fleurier Quality Foundation with a limited edition in gold

Since the mid-1990s, Chopard has invested heavily in its in-house capabilities, building a manufacture capable of developing movements from the ground up. At the heart of this ambition lies the L.U.C collection, a tribute to the brand’s founder, Louis-Ulysse Chopard, and a platform to showcase the highest levels of technical and aesthetic achievement.

But mastery means more when held to a higher standard. That’s why, over 20 years ago, Chopard helped establish the Fleurier Quality Foundation, an independent body that certifies the quality of high-end Swiss watches, in partnership with other regional watchmakers. The goal wasn’t merely to test movements, but to evaluate entire watches for precision, durability, finishing, and Swiss origin. Today, Chopard is the only founding member still actively committed to the certification, and it celebrates that legacy with the L.U.C Qualité Fleurier 20th Anniversary Edition.

The watch is housed in a 39 mm case crafted from ethical 18-carat yellow gold. Its slim 8.92 mm thickness gives it an elegant profile, while a combination of polished surfaces and vertically brushed flanks enhances its visual appeal. A sapphire crystal caseback, secured with six screws, offers a full view of the movement inside. The watch is water-resistant to 30 meters, sufficient for daily wear, though clearly designed for more refined occasions than rugged exposure.

On the dial side, the watch features a two-tone, sector-style layout that blends vintage charm with modern refinement. At the center is a sunburst finish over a gilded brass base, surrounded by a circular-brushed brown chapter ring. A small seconds counter appears at 6 o’clock, adorned with concentric snailing. Time is indicated by gilded syringe-shaped hands, a nod to earlier L.U.C Qualité Fleurier models, while Super-LumiNova-coated indices ensure legibility in low light.

Powering the watch is the L.U.C Calibre 96.09-L, an automatic movement that builds on the architecture of Chopard’s original L.U.C 96.01-L from 1997. Measuring just 3.30 mm thick, it features a 22-carat ethical gold micro-rotor integrated into the movement.

This ultra-thin calibre incorporates Chopard Twin Technology, with two stacked barrels delivering a 65-hour power reserve. It beats at 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and is composed of 172 components. The movement is both COSC-certified and Qualité Fleurier-certified. Finishing details include Côtes de Genève on the bridges, a circular-grained mainplate, and hand-polished bevels and edges throughout.

The watch is paired with a brown calfskin leather strap featuring beige topstitching and a pin buckle in ethical 18-carat yellow gold. Limited to just 20 pieces, it is priced at €33,000, equivalent to AED 125,700.
