A new case and dial for the brand’s famous luxury sports collection
In 2019, Chopard released the Alpine Eagle collection, which received widespread acclaim as a luxury sports collection inspired by the eagle's iris, reflected in its dial. During Watches And Wonders 2024, Chopard introduced its sportiest variant yet, the Alpine Eagle XL Chrono, featuring a new grade 5 titanium case.
The new timepiece remains faithful to the collection's DNA, measuring 44mm in diameter and 13.15mm in thickness. Its case features a distinctive tonneau-shaped middle part, and a round bezel, reminiscent of earlier models, yet crafted from grade 5 titanium. The crown and the chronograph pushers are made from Lucent steel, an alloy exclusive to the Maison composed of at least 80% recycled material. The timepiece comes with a glare-proof sapphire crystal protecting the dial, complemented by a see-through caseback adorned with the Alpine Eagle logo.
The dial showcases a sunburst light blue hue, known as "Rhône Blue" by the brand, achieved through PVD treatment, drawing inspiration from the iris of an eagle as mentioned earlier. The baton-shaped hands, along with applied indices, are plated in rhodium and treated with Super-LumiNova, ensuring excellent visibility in low-light environments. The dial also features a date window positioned at 4:30.
The center second hand features a counterweight resembling an eagle feather, distinguished by a red tip. This same red tip is echoed in the smaller chronograph counter hands that are also plated in rhodium. Additionally, the dial features a black outer flange adorned with a tachymeter scale. This black tone is reflected on the two chronograph counters positioned at 3 and 9 o'clock, as well as on the small seconds sub-dial positioned at 6 o'clock, distinguishing it from the entirely blue dial of the previous release.
The watch is powered by the Chopard 03.05-C, an automatic flyback chronograph equipped with a column wheel and vertical clutch mechanism. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz), it boasts a power reserve of 60 hours. The COSC-certified movement features an openworked tungsten rotor. The new Alpine Eagle XL Chrono comes with a black rubber strap with titanium insert, and a titanium pin buckle. This timepiece is exclusively available at Chopard Boutiques, with a price tag of CHF 23,700 which is equivalent to AED 95,500.
