The italian house collaborates with French artist Laurent Grasso, blue titanium piece
Bvlgari had a big influence in the art of ultra-thin watchmaking, leading a competitive field where every fraction of a millimeter counts. With its record-breaking Octo Finissimo collection, Bvlgari has set new standards. As other top brands join the race for the thinnest, Bvlgari stands out, not only for its technical achievements but for the elegance that characterizes each of its creations. In an engaging conversation with Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bvlgari, we dive into the inspirations, innovations, and ambition that have driven the brand’s journey to what it is today.
Bvlgari has embraced collaboration as a way to bring fresh creativity into its designs, working with a range of artists to give new dimensions to its Octo Finissimo line such as the Tattoo trilogy created with Mo Coppoletta. Now, Bvlgari is joining forces with acclaimed French artist Laurent Grasso for the latest Octo Finissimo Laurent Grasso Edition.
The first thing that catches the eye is the stunning blue case, crafted from titanium and finished with a PVD coating that gives it a deep, captivating blue hue. Measuring 40 mm in diameter and a slim 5 mm in thickness, the case is refined yet bold, with a titanium crown accented by a sleek black ceramic insert. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the dial, while on the back, a sapphire crystal caseback reveals the movement and is beautifully inscribed with Laurent Grasso's signature alongside a delicate silhouette of a cloud.
The brass dial, also treated with a blue PVD coating, harmonizes seamlessly with the case, creating a unified and striking aesthetic. Metallic pigments form a captivating cloud motif designed by Laurent Grasso, adding textured depth that reflects his signature style. The dial also features blue PVD-coated hands for hours, minutes, and small seconds.
Powering the watch is the in-house calibre BVL 138, an ultra-thin automatic movement measuring just 2.23 mm thick. This movement features a platinum micro-rotor, operates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz) and boasts a 60-hour power reserve.
The watch is paired with a titanium bracelet finished in matching blue PVD coating, complete with a folding buckle. Limited to just 200 pieces, this edition is priced at EUR 22,000, equivalent to AED 87,000.
