Introducing Breguet Unveils The Tradition Chronograph 7077 in Blue

A new addition to the Tradition collection with modern aesthetics

Breguet watches are renowned for their complexity and precision, with the chronograph standing out as one of the brand's most famous complications used. The Breguet Tradition collection exemplifies this mastery with an innovative construction where the chronograph powers itself. This collection pays homage to the visionary legacy of Abraham-Louis Breguet, drawing inspiration from his mythical watches. Initially introduced with white and rose gold cases paired with a silver-colored dial, the Tradition Chronograph 7077 now gets a striking new iteration, featuring a captivating “Breguet blue” dial.

The watch comes in a round 18k white gold case with the signature fluted caseband, maintaining the dimensions of previous releases at 44mm in diameter and 14.1mm in thickness. The dial is safeguarded by a sapphire crystal, while the movement is visible through the sapphire crystal case back. The crown is positioned at 3 o’clock, and the screw-locked chronograph pushers are unconventionally placed at 4 and 8 o’clock.

The open-worked dial presents time on a sub-dial positioned at 12 o’clock, featuring two rhodium-plated Breguet hands on a "Breguet Blue" white gold disk, adorned with hand Clous de Paris patterns and framed by elegant white Roman numerals. The dial also features two overlapping arcs, a chronograph’s 20-minute counter is positioned on the left, while the power reserve indicator appears on the right. At the base of the movement, a small rhodium-plated arrow, encircled by a "Breguet Blue" inner bezel and flanked by dual balance wheels at 8 and 4 o’clock, elegantly signals whether the chronograph function is "ON" or "OFF”.

The watch is powered by the calibre 580DR, a manual-winding movement that sets itself apart with its innovative design and precision engineering. What makes this movement truly special is its use of two entirely independent gear trains, each dedicated to a specific function.

The first gear train, responsible for driving the hours and minutes, is regulated by a balance wheel oscillating at a steady 21,600 vph (3Hz). Positioned beneath the power reserve indicator on the right side of the dial, it delivers a 55-hour reserve. The second gear train, devoted solely to the chronograph, operates at an elevated frequency of 36,000 vph (5Hz). This high frequency enhances stability and enables the chronograph to achieve exceptional precision, measuring time to the tenth of a second with precision.

The watch is paired with a "Breguet Blue" alligator leather strap, with an 18k white gold triple-blade folding clasp, it joins the permanent collection at a price of CHF 86,500, proximity equivalent to AED 360,000.
