Two New Elegant Editions, a Fusion of Carbon's Sporty Look and the Elegance of Yellow Gold
Biver launched the Automatique collection for the first time in September 2024, starting with editions made of platinum and rose gold. The same metals were used in the latest addition to the collection, which was dedicated to the Japanese market. The collection began with several distinctive metal options for each dial. In addition, Biver introduced the Atelier series, featuring dials made from natural stones such as obsidian or Pietersite.
Speaking of materials, there is a unique Automatique edition crafted from stainless steel, created specifically for the "Time for Art" charity auction, and to this day, it remains the only Automatique edition made from this metal.
According to the brand, no material is more closely linked to the traditions of Swiss fine watchmaking than yellow gold. For these new Automatique editions, yellow gold is even used for the dial itself.
Both versions come in a yellow gold case with a classic round design, preserving the same aesthetic that has distinguished previous Automatique editions in rose gold and platinum. The case measures 39 mm in diameter and just 10 mm in thickness. The watch is also available in a case made of platinum or 18-carat rose gold, maintaining signature elements from the brand’s earliest creations, such as the hand-soldered lugs.
Continuing his exploration of new ideas and innovative aesthetics, Biver now unveils two new Automatique editions in classic yellow gold cases, each with its own distinctive character. One of the versions embraces a traditional dial design, with both the case and the dial crafted entirely from yellow gold. Each section of the dial has been meticulously finished to create visual contrast: the outer ring and the center of the dial are vertically satin-brushed, highlighting the natural beauty of the gold.
Meanwhile, the middle ring features a circular graining finish that gives the dial a two-tone appearance, inspired by some of our favorite vintage timepieces. The hands and applied indices are finished in anthracite, providing a striking contrast that enhances the legibility of the time display. The golden hands and indices are coated in this grey tone to create a clear visual separation, making it easier to read the time at a glance.
The second version features a bolder, sportier dial design made from a combination of carbon fibre and yellow gold. For the first time, Biver presents an Atelier Series watch with a dial crafted from a material other than natural stone.
The carbon fibre dial is adorned with polished gold markers and hands that stand out against the black section of the dial, while the applied chemin de fer minute track runs along the edge of the dial and is crafted from yellow gold in both versions. The woven pattern of the carbon fibre reveals itself as the light shifts, giving the black and grey tones a changing, iridescent effect.
As with all Automatique models, these new editions house the JCB-003 caliber, an automatic movement equipped with a 22k gold micro-rotor. Operating at a frequency of 25,200 vibrations per hour (3.5 Hz), it offers a power reserve of 65 hours.
This movement seamlessly blends technical precision with the artistic finishing characteristic of Biver’s style. It includes both a hacking seconds mechanism and zero-reset functionality, allowing for ultra-precise time setting. Every component is decorated to the highest industry standards, integrating traditional finishing techniques to give the caliber a distinctive aesthetic.
The Biver Automatique Yellow Gold and Atelier Series Carbon Edition will be available through Biver's global network of retailers in the coming months. A limited number of pieces will be available for purchase directly from Biver's website at launch. The Yellow Gold Edition is priced at CHF 75,000 (approximately AED 321,300), while the Carbon Edition is priced at CHF 89,000 (approximately AED 381,300).
