Introducing Audemars Piguet Pink Gold Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon 'Tamara Ralph' Limited Edition

The brand’s 2nd collaboration with the Australian fashion designer showcases exceptional aesthetics

Established in Le Brassus, Switzerland, in 1875, Audemars Piguet stands as a distinguished Swiss luxury watchmaker. Over the years, the company has cultivated a legacy of nurturing skilled artisans through generations. These craftsmen have consistently honed their expertise, embracing novel skills and techniques that expand their savoir-faire. This commitment to innovation has allowed Audemars Piguet to set revolutionary trends in the world of luxury watches.

Since the launch of the Concept collection, it has impressed us with its out-of-the-ordinary designs, which presents a reinterpretation of the classic Royal Oak design, infusing it with a distinctly modern and avant-garde flair. In 2020, Audemars Piguet began its partnership with designer Tamara Ralph, pairing several of its watches with her Spring/Summer 2021 “Ready-to-wear” collection (known as prêt-à-porter in French) .

Building upon this successful collaboration, the brand unveils its first releases for 2024 the 18K pink gold Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon 'Tamara Ralph' Limited Edition, which seamlessly blends the collection's aesthetics with the refined luxury and imaginative allure of Tamara Ralph's Haute Couture. Drawing inspiration from the designer's aesthetic that seamlessly combines femininity, creativity, and elegance, this limited edition in 18-carat pink gold radiates with Frosted Gold, a method of indenting gold to create a shimmering sparkle that looks a little like diamond dust, showcasing a distinctive palette of graded hues spanning from brown and bronze to golden tones. This exclusive collaboration is set to be unveiled during Tamara Ralph's runway show in Paris for the Spring/Summer 2024 Haute Couture Fashion Week.

Crafted from 18-carat pink gold, the case is embellished with Frosted Gold, a traditional Florentine jewelry technique revitalized by designer “Carolina Bucci” and embraced by Audemars Piguet artisans in 2016 for embellishing the brand's timepieces. The polished bevel that outlines the octagonal bezel enhances its visual impact, while the brushed flanks of the case introduce a compelling contrast. The case measures 38.5 mm in diameter and 11.9 mm in thickness, with a blend of brushed, and polished surfaces, offering an array of captivating plays of light. The hexagonal crown echoes the stainless steel screws punctuating the bezel, and its translucent cabochon-cut sapphire infuses a touch of feminine elegance. Protecting the dial is a double glareproofed sapphire crystal, and on the caseback a glareproofed sapphire crystal is secured within an 18-carat pink gold octagonal frame, featuring satin brushing, polished chamfers, and engraved with the inscription "Royal Oak Concept Limited Edition”.

The multi-layered dial boasts an array of graded shades, including brown, bronze, and gold, adorned with a sunburst satin-finishing and featuring luminescent-coated pink gold hands. Drawing inspiration from the textured detailing and bold femininity found in Tamara Ralph’s Couture creations, the dial is a complex composition of four overlapping circular pink gold plates. The galvanic treatment achieves the brown and golden hues, while the bronze layer is coated with bronze lacquer. The pink gold toned flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock blends technical mastery with sophisticated aesthetics. The upper frame of the cage incorporates three rings radiating from a decentred disc embellished with 19 brilliant-cut diamonds (~ 0.04 carats).

The hand-wound Calibre 2964, powers this timepiece, and it offers a 72 hours of power reserve, and operates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz). The balance wheel and escapement are housed within a petite rotating cage. This cage completes a full revolution every minute, preventing the center of gravity from remaining fixed in the same orientation.

The timepiece is limited to 102 pieces and comes with a bronze-toned "large square scale" alligator strap, secured with an 18-carat pink gold AP folding clasp. Additionally, a brown alligator strap with a matching pearly finish is also included, providing a stylish alternative for the discerning wearer.
