System 78 Collection Expands with Limited Editions of the Gravity Equal Force
Armin Strom, the independent Swiss watchmaker, announces the latest additions to its System 78 collection: the Orbit Lime Green and Orbit Ice Blue. The System 78 line features a series of special editions across various collections, celebrating the birth year of the brand’s founders.
Both new models feature striking fumé dials, offered in a choice of vibrant Lime Green or refined Ice Blue. The Lime Green version delivers a bold, energetic aesthetic, while the Ice Blue variant offers a more understated, sophisticated appeal. Each dial features a gradient effect that deepens towards the outer edge, enhancing the depth of the openworked design and showcasing Armin Strom’s signature blend of modern style and technical expertise.
The stainless steel case of both editions is fitted with a black ceramic bezel featuring a 31-scale date display. Measuring 43.4 mm in diameter, 12.6 mm in height, and 44.35 mm lug-to-lug, the case offers a balanced and contemporary wrist presence. Sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating protect both the dial and the exhibition caseback, offering clear views of the intricate movement within. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters.
At 9 o’clock, the off-center dial displays the time, while the right side of the dial reveals three hand-finished bridges. The gradient dials transition from a central color to deep black at the edges, contrasting with rhodium-coated, Super-LumiNova treated hour and minute hands for optimal legibility.
The world’s first movement to feature a date display on a ceramic bezel that appears only on demand. By pressing the pusher at 10 o’clock, the date hand is activated and points to the current date on the bezel. While the date remains active, the hand advances automatically at midnight each day. A second press of the pusher sends the hand back to its neutral position at 12 o’clock.
The transparent caseback reveals the Automatic ASS20 caliber, designed and manufactured in-house by Armin Strom. Equipped with a balance wheel beats at a frequency of 3.5 Hz (25,200 vibrations per hour). and each component is hand-finished.
The barrel that provides 72 hours of power reserve incorporates a solution that ensures equal force transmission to the balance.
The Orbit System 78 models are fitted with a stainless steel bracelet secured by a folding clasp. Each version is limited to just 20 pieces, priced at CHF 36,000 which is approximately AED 165,150.
