Louis Erard x Vianney Halter II: A Collaboration of Genius and Craft

Louis Erard and Vianney Halter unveil their second collaboration. Both independent companies share philosophies that complement each other, which is what makes this watch so special. Louis Erard showcases its expertise in regulator designs, and without a doubt, they are the most famous company in this kind of high-precision watch. We have already shared the detailed history of regulator watches in this previous article.

The genius watchmaker Vianney Halter infuses his iconic design elements into the watch, drawing inspiration from science fiction and space. By merging these influences with his exceptional craftsmanship, he creates a truly distinctive timepiece. The Louis Erard Régulateur’s design seamlessly complements Halter’s signature split-time subdials and the uniquely crafted bezel, adding a futuristic touch to the watch.

Introducing Laurent Ferrier Collaborates with Art in Time to Unveil A Unique Piece

A watch with a historical story, made exclusively for the brand's retailer in Monaco

Laurent Ferrier offers a diverse collection that spans both sporty and sophisticated designs. Each model blends unique features and design elements that tell its own artistic story, embodying the elegance and craftsmanship synonymous with the brand. Today, this Swiss watchmaker is collaborating with The Art in Time Watchmaking Gallery to unveil a one-of-a-kind timepiece crafted for the benefits of the Monaco Red Cross.

This unique and deeply personal timepiece narrates the story of polar expeditions led by Princes Albert I and Albert II of Monaco, each journeying to Svalbard exactly a century apart. Blue and white are the defining colors far North, representing the vast Arctic Ocean and the ice that partially covers it, and that elegantly adorns the dial.

The case is crafted from luxurious white gold, measuring 41mm in diameter and 12.64mm in thickness. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, ensuring durability and clarity, while a transparent case back allows for a view of the movement. Additionally, the watch offers 30 meters of water resistance.

Laurent Ferrier introduced its first Galet Traveller in 2013, and the travel complication quickly became the centerpiece of its Classic Traveller collection. The central hour hand displays local time, the most immediate need for any traveler, and can be easily adjusted as one moves across time zones. Using the pushers that you can see at 8 and 10 o’clock, the hour hand can be advanced or reversed in one-hour increments to accommodate each new destination.

The grand feu enamel dial showcases a meticulous hand-worked technique to depict a striking polar projection. Hand-frosted white gold outlines the continents, which gradually fade into deepening ocean hues as they move away from the coastlines, capturing the natural effect of depth and distance. The map projection centered on Norway's Svalbard archipelago, a destination reached by Albert I in 1906 and, exactly 100 years later, by Albert II in 2006. Albert I's expedition was driven by exploration, while Albert II’s journey aimed to raise global awareness about preserving Svalbard amidst the climate crisis. The only other color accent is a small dot in Monaco red on the map’s southern edge, marking the point from which both princes embarked on their voyages.

The time indicator in the window at 9 o’clock shows the wearer’s home time, which remains constant regardless of their location and can be adjusted directly via the crown. The date window at 3 o’clock displays the day of the month and stays synchronized with the local time display, adapting automatically as time zones change.

The watch is driven by Laurent Ferrier’s iconic LF 230.02 calibre, showcasing an 18K gold micro-rotor and adorned with the exquisite Côtes de Genève pattern. The movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz), and offers 72 hours of power reserve. The watch comes with a blue calfskin leather strap with an Alcantara lining, fastened by a white gold pin buckle. Proceeds from this watch will provide direct support for humanitarian initiatives benefiting children, as well as cultural projects aimed at students.
