Carat

It’s percentage of pure gold in different gold alloys. It represents the purity on a scale of 24 units, where pure gold is represented as 24-carat gold. For example, 18-carat gold contains 18 units of pure gold and 6 units of other metals, making it 75% gold. 24-carat gold is considered pure gold. Carat is also used to measure the mass of gemstones and is not used to indicate their purity. One carat is equal to 200 milligrams.
