Editorial Breitling Navitimer: The Watch That Does More Than Tell Time
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
The newest addition to the oldest collection from Breguet
The Breguet’s legacy is a testament to the genius of Abraham-Louis Breguet, the French watchmaker who not only invented the Tourbillon, but also created the world's first wristwatch in 1810 for the Queen of Naples. Breguet has an array of impressive collections to its name. Among them, the Breguet Marine Collection stands out as a masterpiece of design.
The Breguet Marine Collection draws inspiration from the brand's rich maritime heritage. Abraham-Louis Breguet, the founder of Breguet, was appointed as the official chronometer maker to the French Royal Navy in 1815. This historical connection is the cornerstone of the Marine Collection's design philosophy.
Over 220 years have passed, yet this remarkable watchmaking mechanism remains one of the most captivating horological creations. Breguet pays homage to it once more by incorporating it into its Marine collection with the new Marine Tourbillon 5577.
The watch comes with a polished and brushed case, either rose gold or platinum, with a diameter of 42.5 mm and a notable thickness of only 9.35 mm.
The case comes with the brand’s signature fluted caseband, these decorative elements on the caseband are known as the Breguet style. Most of its modern wrist watches have fluted case bands. Featuring a screw-locked crown safeguarded by lateral guards and a water resistance of up to 100m. The traditional short lugs welded to the case for the technical reasons of rigidity and strength as for aesthetic consistency.
The sunburst dial of the new 5577 crafted from solid gold, is slate-grey coloured for the rose gold version and navy blue for the platinum model, adorned with gold applied roman numerals and markers and Breguet's hands, which are coated with luminescent materials. The tourbillon located at 5 o’clock catches the eye with its cage rotating in 60 seconds. and a small seconds surrounded it. The chapter ring has been off-centered so as to highlight this mechanism.
Nestled inside the case and revealed through the transparent case back, lies the self winding In-house caliber 581, an ultra-thin movement measuring just 3 mm thick, This thinness is made possible by the use of a peripheral rotor. A platinum oscillating weight with a silicon balance spring that protects the timepiece against the influence of magnetic fields and changes in temperature. Operating at 28,800 VPH, and offers 80 hours of power reserve. Consisting of 334 parts and 33 Jewels.
The fine watchmaking finishing of the movement can be observed through the sapphire crystal case-back. The barrel drum bears a compass rose. Various decorations typical of the Marine line are also present, including Côtes de Genève, parallel lines resembling ocean waves.
The watch is offered with a choice of a brown rubber or alligator leather strap. For the platinum version, it comes with a midnight blue rubber or alligator leather strap for the rose gold version. A Bracelet is available for both editions.
The rose gold edition “5577BR” is priced at 145,000 Euro, equivalent to 555,000 UAE dirhams. The platinum edition “5577PT” is priced at 158,000 Euro, equivalent to 611,000 UAE dirhams.
