Introducing The New Bovet x Pininfarina Aperto 1

Bovet steps into the future with its latest collaboration with the Italian design company

Bovet is a Swiss luxury watchmaking company with a rich history dating back to 1822. The brand, founded by Edouard Bovet, gained a reputation for producing high-quality timepieces. The brand is well known for its collaboration with Pininfarina, the Italian design house, which began in 2010 when Pascal Raffy, the owner of Bovet, first encountered Paolo Pininfarina, the chairman of Pininfarina. It became evident to them that their companies shared many commonalities, notably a passion for exquisitely designed and finely crafted mechanical items. This collaboration resulted in an array of releases, including the famous "Bovet Pininfarina OttantaSei 10-Day Tourbillon."

Pininfarina is known for its pioneering and distinctive designs for many car and yacht companies, but it decided to move on from being only designing to manufacturing, as it presented the fully electric Pininfarina Battista hypercar, which was unveiled at Geneva Motor Show 2019. This marks the first Pininfarina-branded car, boasting an impressive 1,900 horsepower, making it the most powerful Italian production car to date.

Bovet welcomes 2024 with another collaboration with the Italian design house, introducing a new watch that combines age-old techniques of skeletonization with a distinctly futuristic design. The watch boasts a 42mm in diameter and a slim profile with a height of 10.95mm. Crafted from sand-blasted grade 5 titanium, the case exudes both durability and elegance. The sapphire crystal front and back provide a clear view of the intricate mechanics within. Noteworthy is the crown's unique placement at 12 o’clock, integrated into the top lug section.

The openworked dial showcases blue or yellow aesthetics, illuminated by Super-LumiNova for enhanced visibility. The central blue or yellow hands glide gracefully across the dial, complemented by an openworked small seconds subdial with three hands at 6 o'clock. The blue or yellow arch with "7 jours" printed in white, indicating the 7-day power reserve provided by the watch.

Powering this timepiece is the Calibre 15BMPF09-OW, an in-house manual-winding movement that stands testament to Bovet's watchmaking expertise. This movement operates at a frequency of 21,600vph (3Hz). The Aperto 1 is adorned with two rubber straps, ensuring a comfortable fit, and secured with a titanium pin buckle. What sets it apart is the patented Amadeo interchangeability system, allowing effortless strap changes to suit diverse occasions. As for the price it goes for CHF 48,800 which is equivalent to AED 208,000.
