Introducing The latest masterpiece from De Bethune, the DB28 Tourbillon watch

The spatial design transcends the boundaries of luxury, featuring a case adorned with diamonds

De Bethune presented the DB28 collection as an affirmation of the brand’s commitment to its approach and identity in providing distinctive watches, embodying the house’s style and conveying its pioneering vision in the art of watchmaking. DB28 watches became renowned for their remarkable lightness and the innovative "floating lugs" design, enhancing comfort on the wrist. During the 2020 Geneva Watch Days exhibition, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the DB28 collection, De Bethune unveiled two watches that garnered significant attention. These pieces reflect the group's identity and the craftsmanship invested in them, now enhanced with the addition of the tourbillon complication to this spatial design. Presently, the company introduces its latest tourbillon watches, the DB28, maintaining the group’s identity and unique design while incorporating inlays that add a touch of sophistication and elegance.

Unlike the last version we saw from the company of the DB28 collection where only the bezel was studded with blue sapphire. The entire case of this watch has been meticulously inlaid. It embodies the elegance of the art of inlay combined with the ingenuity of Depitone. The case is made with every detail in mind. In mirror-polished rose gold, it measures 42.60 mm in diameter and 9.20 mm thick, striking a balance between sophistication and function. However, what really sets this watch apart is the lugs and crown. The floating lugs, with their unique design patented when introduced by the company in 2006, are made of grade 5 titanium and set with a stunning array of 184 baguette-cut diamonds and 112 round-cut diamonds, displaying the pinnacle of craftsmanship and elegance. This luxury is completed by the crown, also made of grade 5 titanium, set with a rose-cut diamond, embodying luxury at its finest. Moreover, the anti-reflective double-coated sapphire crystal not only enhances visibility but also ensures durability thanks to its 1800 Vickers hardness.

The case provides water resistance of up to 30 metres. As for the case back, it displays an artistic painting, revealing a linear power reserve indicator. This watch seamlessly blends luxury and practicality in every detail.

The dial of this remarkable timepiece is a celestial spectacle, showcasing De Bethune's signature star-studded sky in blued and polished titanium, adorned with hand-fitted white gold and diamond pins that intricately depict the stars. Adding to its allure, a titanium hours ring set with 281 diamonds gleams with brilliance, while polished rose gold hour indicators and hands offer a striking contrast against the celestial backdrop. At the 6 o'clock position, an ultra-light De Bethune 30’’ tourbillon in titanium commands attention, exemplifying precision and technical prowess. Together, these elements create a dial that not only tells time but also transports the wearer to a realm of timeless elegance and celestial beauty.

The heart of this exceptional timepiece beats with the precision and innovation embodied in its movement, the calibre DB2019. Comprising 282 meticulously crafted parts and adorned with 39 jewels, this masterpiece of horology boasts a diameter of 30 mm and a remarkable power reserve of 5 days, thanks to its self-regulating twin barrel. What sets this movement apart are its unique features designed to optimize performance: a titanium balance wheel with white gold inserts, engineered to withstand temperature variations, a "De Bethune" balance-spring with a flat terminal curve; and a silicon escape wheel, ensuring reliable and accurate timekeeping. At the heart of it all lies the ultra-light De Bethune 30’’ tourbillon in silicon and titanium, oscillating at an impressive frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour, symbolizing the pinnacle of precision and technical excellence in watchmaking.

The watch features an extra-supple alligator leather strap, while the buckle, crafted from Grade 5 titanium, is adorned with 146 round-cut diamonds and a pin in polished rose gold. Availability and pricing for this piece of art are available upon request.
