Vintage-Inspired Edition with Two Dial Options
Nivada Grenchen was founded in 1926 by Jacob Schneider, and the business was later handed over to his son, Max Schneider, who continued the company’s legacy. The brand has introduced several collections, including the Antarctic collection, which features models such as the Super Antarctic and Antarctic Spider. Now, the brand is unveiling the latest addition to this collection, the “Antarctic GMT” with two different dials.
This watch features a 316L stainless steel case with a diameter of 36mm and a thickness of 11.1mm, showcasing a sleek brushed finish that adds a touch of sophistication. Protected by a plexiglass, it is designed for everyday wear with a water resistance of up to 50m, making it suitable for light splashes and rain. The caseback is uniquely engraved with a penguin, adding a playful element to its design. Notably, this GMT watch is encased in a dive ready case developed by Ervin Piquerez S.A. (EPSA), a design that includes two crowns positioned at 2 and 4 o'clock one for controlling the 24 hour bezel to track a second time zone, and the other for adjusting the watch’s settings.
The watch offers two dial options, a classic black dial and a tropical dial. The black dial features elegant silver indices, while the tropical version is adorned with warm brown indices. Both dials are enhanced with SuperLuminova C3 for visibility and are punctuated by a white-printed minute track, complemented by a date window at 3 o’clock. The prominent GMT hand, elegantly designed in red and black, seamlessly points to the Plexiglass frame on the dial’s edges. This design allows users to easily track a second time zone with its numerical scale, which from 1 to 24 is highlighted in black on the top and yellow on the bottom.
The watch is powered by the Swiss-made SOPROD C125 GMT movement, an exceptional automatic. It offers a power reserve of 42 hours. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz).
It comes with three strap options, brown or black leather (with or without white stitching), a "Beads of Rice" steel bracelet, and a Tropic rubber strap. The Tropic dial version is a limited edition of 99 pieces, while the black dial version is part of the Permanent Line. Both are priced at CHF 1,400, equivalent to AED 6,160.
