A timepiece inspired by the blue-coloured helmets worn by Jacky Ickx since 1972
Chopard has consistently fostered a strong bond with the automotive world. Since 1988, the brand has forged a partnership with the legendary Mille Miglia race, crafting a specialized line of racing chronographs known as the Mille Miglia collection. Last year, the brand released the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph French Limited Edition, celebrating 35 years of rich and passionate history with the world of motorsport. Now, Chopard collaborates for the seventh time with the Belgian racer Jacky Ickx and unveils the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph JX7 in his honor.
The timepiece pays tribute to the racing legend while also commemorating their 36-year friendship, which has been fueled by a shared passion for motorsport and fine watches. Inspired by the unique blue helmets worn by Ickx since 1972. The new timepieces present two variations of the chronograph: one crafted in Lucent Steel and the other in Lucent Steel with accents of ethical 18-carat yellow gold.
The diameter of the case is 40.5mm, with a thickness of 12.88mm, and the chronograph pushers sport a knurled pattern reminiscent of brake pedals, while the crown features a vintage steering wheel motif. In the two-tone version, the bezel, crown, and pushers are made from ethical yellow gold, enhancing the watch's luxurious appeal. The case is topped with a box shaped sapphire crystal, and the see-through caseback has a blue helmet print on it.
The dial, finished in midnight blue lacquer, showcases Arabic numerals and indices with Super-LumiNova, ensuring excellent visibility even in dim lighting. Additionally, the dial features a small seconds subdial at 3 o'clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock, a 30-minute counter at 9 o'clock, and a tilted date window positioned between 4 and 5 o'clock.
The Lucent Steel variant is limited to 250 pieces, while the Lucent Steel with accents of yellow gold is limited to 50 pieces. The watch is powered by a COSC-certified automatic chronograph movement based on ETA A322-11, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offering a 54-hour power reserve. The timepiece comes with a midnight blue tire pattern rubber strap with a Lucent Steel pin buckle, priced at USD 11,900, equivalent to AED 43,700 for the steel variant, and USD 13,900, equivalent to AED 51,000 for the gold variant.
