A Hermes store-inspired dial sails a ship that reflects creativity
Since its inception in the world of watchmaking in 1912, Hermès has distinguished itself through creativity and unique aesthetics. Over the years, this prestigious brand has successfully blended rich heritage with modern touches. Its timepieces, inspired by designs that tell captivating stories, include the 'Le Sacre des Saisons watch”, which draws inspiration from the silk scarves the company has become renowned for. Now, The brand is launching its new watch, inspired by its boutique located at 24 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, the “Flagship” watch from the Slim d'Hermès collection.
The timepiece features a 39.5mm yellow gold case, exuding elegance with its sleek height of just 7.5 mm. A durable sapphire crystal safeguards the dial, ensuring clarity and scratch resistance, while the solid case back adds to its robust design. The twisted lugs further enhance its aesthetic appeal, seamlessly integrating the strap and contributing to a refined.
The dial of the Slim d’Hermès Flagship watch is a breathtaking work of art, featuring a vibrant aventurine base that serves as the backdrop for an intricate miniature painting. Inspired by the iconic Hermès flagship store at 24 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, the design depicts a ship navigating a starry night, an image initially imagined by artist Dimitri Rybaltchenko, which first appeared on the brand’s silk scarf. The brand name is elegantly inscribed at 1 o'clock, while the central hour and minute hands are positioned precisely in the middle of the dial, ensuring clarity and functionality. This meticulous creation begins with layers of micro-paint applied to the aventurine, then heat-dried in a kiln to achieve depth and luminosity. The ship, carved in relief from solid gold, is individually hand-painted and positioned atop the shimmering sky, reflecting the meticulous craftsmanship involved. A whimsical spinning star at 4 o’clock adds a dynamic touch, moving in harmony with the wearer’s wrist.
The timepiece is powered by the remarkable H1950 ultra-thin automatic movement, renowned for its mechanical self-winding design and impressive 48-hour power reserve. Crafted in Switzerland, the H1950 movement incorporates a micro-rotor derived from the Vaucher VMF5401, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship for which Hermès is famous. Operating at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz), it exemplifies both elegance and precision in watchmaking. It comes with a blue alligator leather strap and is a limited edition of 12 pieces, priced at CHF 97,000, which is equivalent to AED 426,800.
