Introducing Certina Releases the Sporty DS-7 Chrono Auto

A new chronograph inspired by the padel sport

For over 130 years, Certina has been committed to the art of Swiss watchmaking, earning its name for its precision, reliability, and innovation. Every Certina timepiece undergoes rigorous quality control, embodied by the robust DS Concept (Double Security) introduced in 1959, which ensures exceptional durability. The brand now expands its collection with the DS-7 Chrono Auto, a chronograph inspired by the rapidly growing sport of padel, a field in which Certina has been actively involved for years.

Since 2021, Certina has been involved in the sport of padel, and as the courts of the sport continue to emerge worldwide, teams engage in fast-paced doubles matches that incorporate the court walls into high-energy rallies, and the dial of the watch features a grid structure reminiscent of the net on a padel court.

The new DS-7 Chrono Auto features a 42 mm 316L stainless steel case with a mix of brushed and polished finishes. The case includes classic mushroom-style push-buttons, a crown guard, and a tachymeter scale on the bezel, which surrounds the domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal.

The dial is available in dark blue, dark green, or black, with the dark blue variant distinguished by a red stop-seconds hand. All versions are accented by an embossed grid pattern, reminiscent of the criss-crossed lines of the nets and rebound walls found in padel, as mentioned earlier. The hands and indexes are coated with Super-LumiNova, ensuring optimal readability even in low-light conditions. The 30-minute counter is positioned at 3 o’clock, the date window at 6 o’clock, and the small seconds at 9 o’clock.

Under the sapphire crystal caseback lies the ETA A05.231 caliber, an automatic movement offering a 68-hour power reserve. The movement features a silicon balance spring, which not only withstands magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations but is also highly resistant to shocks, and oxidation. All variants come paired with a steel bracelet. The pricing for the blue and green dial versions is CHF 1,685 / AED 7,357, while the black dial variant is priced at CHF 1,695 / AED 7,400.
