Five New Models and Enhanced Features for the Square Diving Watch
The BR 03 Diver collection from Bell & Ross, the first square-shaped diving watch, was launched in 2017. Despite the challenges of making a square watch waterproof, the company succeeded and met the requirements of the international standard ISO 6425 for diving watches. We have explained everything about this standard and diving watches in this article.
To mark its seventh anniversary in 2024, the design has been updated for a more contemporary look, introducing five new models. Both ceramic and steel cases are offered.
Bell & Ross diver watches are also available in bronze, as seen last year in the Bronze BR 03-92 Diver with a green dial. The ceramic options have become a hallmark of the company, featured in numerous editions. Notably, the limited edition BR 03-94 Blacktrack, designed for bikers, and the BR 03-92 Diver, created in collaboration with the Tara Ocean Foundation, showcase the black and blue ceramic variants, respectively.
The watch features a distinctive square case, inspired by the cockpit instruments of fighter planes, measuring 42mm in both width and length. The case dimensions remain consistent with previous editions of the BR 03 Diver. This new collection is available in satin/polished stainless steel or black ceramic. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. The familiar design of exposed screws at each corner of the square case is retained. The watch also features a screw-down crown and a solid steel caseback secured with four screws, providing water resistance up to 300 meters. Moreover, it complies with ISO 6425 standards for diver's watches, ensuring reliability and performance underwater.
The steel options come with three dial colors: black, blue, and white, while the ceramic model offers either a matte black or pale blue Super-LumiNova dial. For the steel models, there’s a 60-minute unidirectional rotating bezel with color-coordinated ceramic inserts, replacing the aluminum inserts used in earlier models: black for the black and white dials, and blue for the blue dial. A detailed 15-minute scale is included for diving.
The dial features larger applied indices and new arrow hour and minute hands with white Super-LumiNova inserts (pale green on the white dial). There is a printed minute track on the sloping flange and a circular date window positioned at 4:30.
Powering all of the new BR 03 Diver models is the Caliber BR-CAL.302-1, based on the Sellita SW300-1. This automatic movement beats at a rate of 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and offers a power reserve of 54 hours, an upgrade also seen in the classic BR 03 Collection update last year.
Straps are available in black textured rubber or black ultra-resistant synthetic canvas, with the blue steel model featuring a matching blue strap. Pricing for the three steel watches is EUR 4,400, which is equivalent to 17,300 AED. The black ceramic model with a black dial retails for EUR 4,990, equivalent to 19,700 AED, while the ceramic model with a full lume dial retails for EUR 5,400, equivalent to 21,300 AED.
