A new design with a new “time-shifting" mechanism
In 2012, Behrens journey began with its official registration as an independent watch brand by Mr. Lin Bingqiang in Shenzhen, China. Over the years of dedicated evolution, the brand centered its efforts on the design and development of cutting-edge mechanical modules, seeking innovative avenues for time presentation. This commitment goes beyond conventional timekeeping, Behrens aspires to create wristwatches that transcend the ordinary.
The Inventor collections represent the pinnacle of the brand's design and craftsmanship, characterized by elevated standards and a distinctive time display. Now, Behrens introduces its latest timepiece, the “Orion One”. Embodying a futuristic theme, this cutting-edge model seamlessly continues Behrens' iconic "time on a circular axis" design philosophy using the "time-shifting" mechanism for the first time.
Inspired by a sci-fi and enigmatic Mothership aesthetic, the stainless steel case of this timepiece boasts an intricate design with 40 facets. Measuring 44mm in length, 38mm in width, and 12.6mm in thickness, it exudes a captivating presence. Protecting the dial is a robust sapphire crystal, and a water resistance up to 30m. The "Orion One" encapsulates a culmination of distinctive patents, featuring a novel lever-type winding and time-setting mechanism. This patented innovation allows for a concealed lever to replace the traditional crown, adding an element of playfulness while enhancing the overall contours of the watch case without compromising its aesthetic appeal.
The openworked dial features a distinctive twin-roller display system for 'Hours & Minutes’ positioned at 6 o’clock. The numerous rollers are crafted in a raised 3D style with luminous elements, enhancing time readability. Over 30 components are coordinated to resurrect Behrens iconic "time display on a circular axis" concept. In this intricate design, the left axis roller showcases the hours, while the right axis roller reveals the minutes. The watch showcases a center small seconds feature, coupled with a date display positioned at 1:30, enhanced by a magnifying glass for effortless readability. Adding a touch of sophistication, a linear day/night indicator is elegantly situated at 12 o’clock.
The Orion One is powered by the Cal. sellita SWB18-200 automatic movement, operating at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and providing a power reserve of 38 hours. The watch is equipped with a fluoroelastomer quick-release strap, known for its heightened oxidation resistance. Additionally, a range of strap colors is available to suit various wearing scenarios. This watch will start delivering in mid-February 2024, with a price of USD 3,600 which is equivalent to AED 13,250.
