Two new release inspired by Earth's inner core
Atowak, a Chinese brand founded in 2010, was created out of a deep passion for craftsmanship and innovation. With its penchant for the unconventional, the brand has established a unique identity with designs that are both imaginative and futuristic. Atowak is renowned for its complex mechanisms and playful display styles, catering to those who seek distinctive creations as we saw in the Spaceship watch.
This year, the brand caught us off guard with an unforeseen launch: the Atowak Core, a watch that draws inspiration from the Earth's inner structure. At its center, there's a tourbillon that represents the Earth's dynamic energy, mirroring the perpetual motion at the planet's core. The continuous movement of the flying tourbillon is like the Earth's boundless force. In addition to representing Earth's immense energy, CORE also signifies a robust resistance, echoing the tourbillon's original purpose—to counteract the effects of Earth's gravity.
The CORE watch features a three-piece case crafted from 316L stainless steel. The bezel has a sunburst pattern that creates a unique texture, while the case's sides are accented with two sleek decorative lines that alternate between matte and glossy finishes. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, and the movement's intricate mechanics are displayed through the concave sapphire crystal on the case back, complemented by open-worked bridges. With a slim profile of 13.5mm, the case's dimensions of 49mm by 42mm and its gentle curvature ensure a comfortable fit on the wrist.
The brand introduces two releases (Icy Silver & Blazing Red) each distinguishes itself by its case color and the blue or red hues on the dial. The dial is infused with Super-LumiNova, illuminating the hollowed skeleton parts, numerals, and hands. This glow shines through in the dark, enhancing the dynamic, multi-layered design. The six-level dial artistically represents Earth's internal structure, showcasing the intricate beauty of its core and the surrounding layers of crust.
The watch is powered by ATOWAK's in-house movement, the AK-T01, which offers an impressive 120-hour power reserve. ATOWAK's patented tourbillon movement is a showcase of its craftsmanship and technical skill, consisting of 196 parts, many of which are hand-polished, with the smallest component measuring just 0.13mm. The tourbillon cage, made from titanium, not only keeps the overall weight down to just 0.46 grams but also ensures remarkable durability and strength.
The watch comes with a blue or red NBR rubber strap, depending on the chosen release, with a quick-release buckle. Each is limited to 99 pieces and priced at AED 10,800.
