Introducing Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Chronograph Tourbillon Now in Platinum

The Collection Excellence Platine, initiated by Vacheron Constantin in 2006, stands as a distinguished series of timepieces released periodically. Each piece, offered in limited editions, serves as a testament to the versatility and allure of platinum. Past iterations have included variations of the Traditionelle Complete Calendar and the Traditionelle World Time, all meticulously crafted with platinum components, ranging from cases and dials to crowns and buckles. Now, in conjunction with Watch and Wonders 2024, the Traditionnelle Tourbillon Chronograph CEP joins this esteemed collection. First introduced in 2020, this model boasts an in-house movement that seamlessly integrates the prestigious tourbillon and chronograph complications.

The case of this timepiece embodies the distinguished characteristics of the Traditionnelle collection, crafted meticulously from 950 platinum. With a diameter of 42.5 mm and a thickness of 11.7 mm. Sporting a stepped case design with a fluted caseback, it offers a touch of refinement to its overall aesthetic. Additionally, the transparent sapphire crystal caseback allows a glimpse into the intricate mechanics within. Tested for water resistance at a pressure of 30 m.

The platinum dial showcases a soft-grained finish and hosts a small "Pt950" hallmark positioned between four and five o'clock, denoting its material composition. Notable is the subtle asymmetry observed between the size of the tourbillon, the positioning of the dial text, and the visual weight of the two subdials. These elements are framed by both a railway minute scale and a traditional yet understated tachymeter scale. Additionally, the Dauphine-type minute and hours hands, while the chronographs hands are made of blued steel, the hour markers, fashioned from polished white gold, are the sole visible components not crafted from platinum.

The tourbillon regulator, positioned uniquely at 12 o'clock on the lower part of the dial, stands out prominently. Serving as a mono-pusher, the chronograph features a 45-minute register located at 3 o'clock. At 6 o'clock, the power reserve indicator.

The watch is powered by the manual-winding Caliber 3200, a movement developed to commemorate the brand's 260th anniversary in 2015. This exceptional movement integrates a monopusher chronograph alongside a tourbillon regulator. The regulation is overseen by a one-minute tourbillon featuring a carriage inspired by the Maltese cross. Operating at a leisurely pace of 18,000 vibrations per hour, the balance wheel ensures precise timekeeping. With a generous power reserve of 65 hours, the movement meets the stringent criteria of the Geneva Seal, showcasing exquisite finishing touches such as Geneva stripes, circular graining, and chamfering.
